What Fantasy Football Draft Prep Tools Do You Use?

Title says it all. I'm curious what sites, materials, cheat sheets, strategies and anything else that you use going into a draft.

:bender:

LZ's rankings primarily. Also look at others such as ESPN's top 100

I like to look at average draft postition at several sites or even better, get an aggregate list that averages different sites ADP's together. This gives me a good idea where I can expect players to be picked.

I also like to do a lot of mock drafts, here is the site I use.

Looking at other teams message boards can be helpful also. A couple of seasons ago I was on the Denver board where I kept hearing about this 2nd year WR tearing up camp. Drafted Brandon Marshall in the 16th round the year he broke out.

And I keep a magazine in the john to skim through stats.

What I don't like to do is take other peoples advice. I make my own rankings and if they suck they suck, but if they work I'm a genius.:breakdance:

Fftoday.com I think is one of the best sites out there. They have good articles on everything from sleepers to strategy. They also do in-depth analysis on strength of schedule. It seems like they do so much work that I'm surprised it's not a pay site.

For latest news on players, I use rotoworld.com. They seem to break news the earliest.

Pigskinaddiction.com's Draft Guide is the best there is. I've been there 5 years now and there is more info from that one guide than most publications give in a year. Its cheap too. I use it, LZ's rankings from his news letter and then practice at Draft Calculator that Dc mentioned. I'll check some other sites for reading..ESPN, CBS, but mostly stick with above and their updates.

LZ is now charging $25 for his newsletter, which has his rankings. I think I would rather just use ESPN's than pay $25 for that. I thought he gave it away for free last year.

There are two versions of his newletter. One is free. The one you pay for has more detail for both the pro and college games.

Do you want a copy of his rankings? I can email them to you.

Thanks for the list, I'm looking through it trying to understand how to print it effectively. I just like having paper in front of me during the draft instead of sorting through Excel sheets.

Acouple of things I don't like about that sheet is on the Top 180 section, there is no Bye Week column, nor is there just a number next to the names for reference when printing. The numbering is easy enough to put in there, but the bye weeks are tedious. In case anyone needs a quick reference to the bye weeks, here's the list:

Team Name:
Week 4: Cowboys, Chiefs, Vikings, Buccaneers
Week 5: Dolphins, Patriots, Steelers, Seahawks
Week 6: Cardinals, Bills, Panthers, Bengals
Week 7: Lions, Texans, Colts, Jets
Week 8: Falcons, Ravens, Bears, Browns, Giants, Eagles
Week 9: Broncos, Jaguars, 49ers, Rams, Titans, Redskins
Week 10: Packers, Saints, Chargers, Raiders

Team Abbreviation:
Week 4: DAL, KC, MIN, TB
Week 5: MIA, NE, PIT, SEA
Week 6: AZ, BUF, CAR, CIN
Week 7: DET, HOU, INDY, NYJ
Week 8: ATL, BAL, CHI, CLE, NYG, PHI
Week 9: DEN, JAX, SF, STL, TEN, WASH
Week 10: GB, NO, SD, OAK

You know what else would be cool, is if the Top 180 listing was a formula that pulled the names from the other sheets and sorted it by total points projected. That way you could make your own adjustments to the players on the supporting sheets and see how they stack up against others on the final sheet.

If you can find this magazine it is pretty darn good.
