I would say Xavier Adibi. This guy is a total monster who unquestionably has the potential to complement DeMeco quite nicely. A great pick, we always manage to pick up great players in the fourth.

See my best value pick thread. The great thing here is i'm very happy with our first 5 picks and think they can all contribute from the start. I'm not upset with Barber and Spinks, I just dont think they'll be contributors at the level of the first 5 picks. Hopefully Barber finds his niche on special teams and Spinks becomes the next Sage Rosenfels though!!!

I couldn't help myself. I voted for Brink. I just didn't want his confidence to take that knock from checking out his new teams website and seeing that nobody was pleased that they drafted him.

You go get some Alex Brink! You da' MAN!

I've never seen so much disapproval of a 7th round pick lol. You'd think that by picking him the entire draft was ruined according to some people lol.

Maybe I'm the odd ball here but who really cares about the 7th round pick? TRJ is calling him by a different name already (Brink not Spinks - though he's going to need a knockout to get on the field). So they drafted a QB who might have potential - great that's what that pick is for. Not like they just randomly picked his name out a hat. Best of luck Brink.

Adibi. Always looked good in college. Hopefully he can transition to the pros. At minimum he should be a pretty good ST guy.

I'm really siked about Slaton, so I voted for him. I am really hoping that he will be the home run threat this offense has truly been missing. I can't wait to see him get in the open field on the first screen play he runs.

Honestly, I'm not really all that stoked about any of them individually. So said, I think that Rick Smith and Kubiak did about the best they could given the picks that they had. They filled some holes, created some depth, and appear to have picked up some really good value with the picks that we did have.

It's not sexy but it looks like a winner. Solid, but unspectacular, draft.

Oh, and to answer the question, I'm going to say Brown. He may be a project, but we've wanted a round one LT since jump and we've got him now. That said, I'm going to put my vote where my mouth is and get behind that pick.

Xavier Adibi...:doot:

With Mario and Amobi screaming down on the QB (or soaking up the double teams), and that of Demeco and Xavier covering the middle and adding blitz pressure on the QB as well...I could go in and sub for Dunta and make a confortable living! Well, not really, but you know what I mean. :fans:

Funny... I wanted to go mostly defense in this year's draft, but the pick I am most pleased with is, Steve Slaton. As long as he used correctly (not as an every down back), he could be an added weapon fot the offense.

I'm pleased with the first 5 picks, but I'd lean towards Slaton for thread sake. It's going to be nice seeing our RB's actually getting to the outside when they're supposed to. I've been imagining Slaton on 3rd down screens and mis-direction tosses ever since we drafted him. The guy's a burner and I enjoyed watching WV play the past couple years due to his abilities.:)

I voted for Okam.

I'm pleased with all of them. But if Okam really does have a fire in him, he's going to make everyone on that defense better. It's going to be harder to block Amobi and Mario. We're going to improve in the run defense. Guards and centers are going to have more trouble getting to the second level to block Demeco and the other LB's.

He might not put up big individual numbers or anything but he could be a very important pick.

I'd say Adibi. He's going to help out ASAP I think. I also think getting him in the 4th was a steal.

But I also like the Okam and Slaton picks as well. Of course I like getting Duane, we need a LT, hopefully this is the last draft where half the board wants a LT.

I choose Molden, bcause we needed another CB and if, as they have said, he can play like Dunta and Bennett and is not affraid to tackle and will support stopping the run, and I am excited. Being that he is tall and has some speed (4.39 at the combine) he will be able toto match up with the bigger receivers once he gets some exp. I just hope he plays as fast as in 40 time is.

Sorry Faggins but I hope this means you do not make the roster out of training camp.

I'm pleased with the first 5 picks, but I went with Adibi simply because to me he represented the best value. I really thought he would go mid 2nd to mid 3rd. But, I'm happy with all those guys. Now rounds 6 and especially 7......:scarygirl:

I voted for Adibi. I had been watching this dude all last year & it just seemed like he was in on every play. 2nd i would have to say Brown b/c we've needed an LT for so long & our front office finally felt that it was something that had to be addressed so we can move to the next level on offense. It really just more of the fact that i got tired of the patchwork...... save for Spencer.

I'll answer this once I can see them play. Right now every team in the league feels good about their draft.

It's a toss up for me between Slaton & Adibi. They both represent good value, and they both have a potential to be playmakers in the NFL. I voted for Adibi but both are certainly deserving. I really like the Okam & Molden picks too.

You know, I think Slaton has the potential to be that first RB in what I hope becomes a fairly long line of RB's who come here unheralded (at least by NFL "first round" standards), play in our offense behind our zone blocking offensive line and then finds himself later traded for a higher pick down the road following a few successful years here (whereupon we promptly plug some other young fellow in and he does the exact same thing Slaton did before we traded him).

At least that's the way I'd like to think this is going to go.

And one other thing. Where is all the Alex Brink love on this board?

He's going to be the steal of the 2008 draft people. I wish he'd hurry up and pick a number because I'm in a jersey buying mood.

End of story. Period.

I'm Hervoyel. That's what I do.

Its well documented on this site how much I like Adibi. :thisbig: I think he will turn out to be one of the top values in this entire draft. We now have 2 heat seaking missles playing behind a very good and young line. Look for us to create alot more turnovers than in years past.

Not so much down on the guy as the fact that other better weapons were available , and if it was a useless pick why not trade it for a better one .

In other words you want us to trade our ZBS made RB's for first round picks and other superstars like Champ Bailey.

Hmmm following in the Bronco's footsteps might not be so bad after all.

It's hard to get overly excited about a player you've only seen in a 3rd rate college all-star game, but let's take a look at Antwaun Molden and how he compares on the surface to the #16 pick Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie.

Both are 1-AA players
Both have good size - over 6 ft.
Both are track stars with limited football experience
Both ripped it up at the NFL scouting combine

One played at the Senior Bowl, the other in the Texans vs. the Nation game (Texas won, BTW)
One is named Cromartie, the other is not
One was selected in the 1st round, the other the 3rd

Maybe there is someone with vast knowledge of the game of football that can say with absolute certainty that Cromartie will be a better pro than Molden. I can't. But, I can say that I'm much happier the Texans spent a 3rd round pick on a high risk project CB than a 1st rounder.

The Titans don't. You should see the boards.

I voted for Steve Slaton. Hoping he can turn into a DD/W type player. Just needs to bulk up.

No sir. If Slaton is a beast (say he turns into one), why would you trade him away? You keep him and let him wreck for years. You can add in the new young blood with Slaton still here. Both can wreck. You can have a Houston wrecking machine.

And on Cromartie, part of me thinks he was hyped up more because of his last name. There is a unrelated guy in the NFL with that last name, who plays the same position. I don't know, maybe I'm reaching.

Who says it was a useless pick? You?

I've seen Brink play more than once and he isn't a scrub. He is actually the main reason that I overestimated Jason Hill's talents last year.

I voted for Molden

He has the ability to become a pro-bowl corner. Small school DB's Ken Houston, Willie Brown, Darrel Green, Mel Blount, ETC.

If Brown can become the LT Gibbs tinks he can we will look back @ this draft as the turning point for this franchise.

I am so stoked about this draft. Thanks RS & KUBES.

Probably Brown. I've wanted an LT for the past 4 years and now we have one (came close with Spencer) who I hope plays as well as we would like and stays healthy for the next decade. I think we may have 3 surprise high quality, high productions picks with our 2 #3s and our 4th pick and maybe our 5th rounder. If these kids wind up playing as well as it looks like they might be able to, we could have one of the best drafts of the year.

It is close, but Okam is the one I like. If youre gonna stop the run, you need a space eater. It lets TJ rotate with Okoye in his natural position, and gives us a fat **** to park in the middle of the line and eat space. Brown and Slaton are close seconds, since its a home run threat and a LT of the future, but Okam in the 5th was nice.

Have we ever had a draft where at this time of the year we had so many players who we thought could potentially come in and be contributors for this football team? Maybe the 06 draft, but at the same time we hadn't experienced a rookie impact like that draft before so we didn't know how good they were at the time.

We also had untalented players on the roster, so it was easier to make an impact. We have added to our talent level, and these guys will still make an impact.

This is the second time i've seen DD being compared to slaton & about the only ways these guys are similar is in stature.
Slaton was a very accomplished Collegiate, DD really wasn't.
Slaton speed to burn, DD not so much.
Slaton also probably has the edge hands wise too.
this guy was brought in to do something that DD couldn't do- be a breakaway back so if this guy ends up like DD he will be considered a bust even taking into consideration where he was drafted.

So, he'll be a bust with a couple off 1,000+ rushing years as a Texan?

Better hands?--that's a stretch.

No they are not the same back, but if he produces similarly with a different style he will not be a bust--not even close. Let's see Slaton pick up Offensive Rookie of the Year and then we can consider anointing a bust if he is only as good as DD.

See what you're saying but perhaps approached it wrong. Slaton has better all around tools to work with so the expectations for his production is higher.

DD was at best a change of pace back who was put into the starting lineup because no one else could tote the rock good as he did. He didn't complain about the pounding he took all he did was lineup and did what the coaching staff asked him to do. That translated into a guy who had a couple thousand yard rushing years and was a catching threat out of the backfield. All thing considered with a makeshift OL and David Carr as the the QB that to me is an unimaginable accomplishment. When there becomes a Texans HOF or something similar I hope he's the first guy deservingly inducted.

As for Slaton I think the way this coaching staff will use him should give N.O. ideas on how to use Reggie Bush, you know that 2nd overall pick, who is a season away from bustdom.

all i'm saying right there. The guy has better tools & better people around him than DD so if we're just going to be happy with Slaton being as good as DD was even though he likely is going to have it better than DD, then we've in essence wasted a pick on him. sorry to say but 1000 yds over 16 games isn't all that great. This guy should be a terror back there, espcially with gibbs' track record. If they wanted just a run of the mill 1000 yd rush guy back there they could've kept dayne for that or continued the platoon of has beens & never was'.

& Icak, Davis hadn't shown he was any better at recieving than Slaton was coming out of college. the only reason i said "probably" is b/c the guy was in a spread offense attack in college in which everyone on offense has got to be able to catch pretty well for that offense to be effective like it was in WV, not really a stretch at all.
