What do you all think?

If you were the GM of a team -would you ?

Trade players to aquire more picks in a 'deep' draft to try to pick up some good players. OR

Trade picks for players who have already proven thier worth and show more potential.

At this point, i think the Texans need a veteran proven LT. Doesn't have to be star studded like a Pace, Ogden, or Jones. I think Chris Samuels will be on the chopping block just because the team needs to destroy and rebuild if they don't win under Gibbs. And i think Samuels is the only guy they have with Draft Value.

Im thinking really ahead, but maybe acquire him by trading a 2nd and a 3rd ala Buchanon. I don't think we should draft a LT in the 1st round unless it's D'Brickashaw Ferguson.

As for the state of the TExans, (we need oline), Rookie olinemans will just bring u back a couple years. We have Carr, Johnson, and Davis for so long, Olinemans take forever to reach their prime and develop. WE NEED TO WIN NOW.

Some LT's i would trade 2nd and 3rd for:
Flozell Adams
Chris Samuels
Bryant Mckinnie
Marvel Smith

Doesn't have to be pro-bowlers, just above average good tackles.

Even is you get a vet. LT, they are not going to be ready and be on the same page with every one else for quite a while. Not too many teams play the zone ofense and that will needs every one on the OL working as a whole unit. I would rather take may chances in the Draft. I also would rather give what we have right now a chance to see what they can do this year. I really believe that they can be very good this year.

It all depends on where my team is at, at the time. If a proven player puts us over the top, then I trade picks for him. If we're aging & a long way from competing, I trade players for picks.

So why is Victor Riley our starting left tackle right now?

I think right now a guy like Chris Samuels will put us over the top. He's still Young for Olineman and entering his prime. Drafting a "franchise" left tackle is hard as drafting a "franchise" qb. I say we just give up and get a solid/good Left Tackle(because im a realist). He is also very durable, i think only missed like 5 games and started since his rookie year. I think he is a guy we should heavily pursue next year in a trade. For some reason, i don't think he is gonna be a redskin for long.

Say we draft a guy like Jonathan Scott, His rookie year, i doubt he would start. So we would have that same problem at LT next year.

Basically i think finding a LT is extremely hard, might as well get a proven vet, who is good and at 28 or so, still have upside as an olineman. Then we can draft Marcedes Lewis in the 1st round, Immediate TE's are more likely than immediate LT's.

Of course all this is if i am playing GM.

I believe he has a mean streak and has demonstrated 110% effort thru TC into pre-season. lets keep it going Victor, but don't get discouraged Seth :texflag:

Well, depends where my team is at. If I feel like the team needs some veteran leadership, I'll most likely trade to get an above average guard, who can turn into a leader for the younger players and linemen. If I have veteran started who also above average, I would definately go into the draft and maybe pick up a guard or tackle late in the 3rd or 4th round, and have high expectations.
