Were WR's bieng utalized correctly by old Coaching Staff?

I dont know about yall but I feel like we should have thown a lot more shorter passes to AJ and I think we should have gone long to Jerome Mathis more too. What the question is is that do you think our new coaching staff will see the talent that these WR have and use them more often?

Im talking about routs like short posts because hes good at breaking takles and making people miss.Maybe I should put it this way, we should go to him more down the middle of the field because he could get those FS and SS to miss just like in the Arizona game.

I'm sure we see a more progressive offense next year. The Bears didn't outscore us and they are in the playoffs, so we need to get better in many different areas.

i dont think there's a single player or position on the team that was used correctly.

I was going to say that but I want to be more positive. It is very hard to be; I usually fail. I need to change my avatar too...

haha thats true exept for maybe the RB position I mean if DD wouldnt have been hurt he would have had his 3rd consecutive 1,000 yrd. season.

Like Vinny said, I don't know how much shorter you can get with those passes to AJ. I think the major problem with our receivers is that AJ is the only one who can both catch and create separation on a consistent basis. He was never able to get behind the defenders because he would be doubled on deep routes because he is our only playmaker. We could throw a bunch of short passes the entire game because defenders would make sure that the receivers stayed in front of them, but once we got to the red zone or near the red zone, defenses would lock down and we would have to settle for field goals.

And if he caught the easy ones we would not have to be looking for another WR.;)
Hopefully everybody had their 'bad year' at one time and this is behind us.

Ditto to Vinny's comment. AJ ran little more than 5 yard out patterns all season. There's no point in having a big, physical receiver to break tackles if you are going to have him forcing himself out of bounds as he's catching the ball.

But I agree your general assertion. The WRs were greatly misused. Mathis was rewarded for his first TD pass by not seeing any action at WR for weeks. Derrick Armstrong is rarely even active for games. And if they were going to insist on keeping Bradford, it would have been nice to use him occasionally before the last two weeks. AJ was choked. And Gaffney- well I can't really think of anything right now.

I expect much more production from the receivers next season.

I'm sure AJ was frustrated this year because most of his yardage had to come from YAC. Most every time they threw him the ball it was close to the line of scrimmage where he had guys on top of him pounding on him on net net net passes.

I just want the defense to be of the highest priority, now that Fangio is gone we should see a real defense that will hand the offense good field positions. If I see another hitch i'm going to throw eggs at Casserly.
