Now... I know DD is having a few problems... but I want to address something else... Is it just me or the one or two carries that Jonathon Wells has done didnt look to bad at all.. I know there are quite a few Wells haters out there.... But if Hollings is still out next week, Would you be in favor of Wells to start to give DD a rest or even allow Wells a few more carries?

no... as much as i'd like to bench DD, our offense doesn't work well without him in there or hollings. Wells isn't gonna handle a load the whole game.

We have to hope that Davis will hold onto the ball, he has had 2 statistically great games with 2 big fumbles in each game.

46 carries 172 yds 2TDS 3.7 yds per carry
16 receptions 165 yds 10.3 yds per catch
62 touches 337 yds

4 fumbles!!!!!!

Is he just getting tired and over worked from 31 touches a game? whats the deal with this? If he didn't turn the ball over we probably would be 2-0 and he would be all over ESPN for the numbers he has put up.

Only problem is that DD is going to get a big rep for teams coming against us as a fumbler.. This will be much harder for him because they will be focusing on exactly that. If Hollings is still out next week, we might have to use Wells for at least some relief so DD doesnt have to carry the ball so much.

i agree with spelling him with wells, but i can't see Wells taking the bulk of the carries, especially against this kansas city defense that might be worse than ours at this point in the season.

It all comes down to DD holding on to that ball. I didnt get to see the game in real-time but watched on Tivo and the play before he fumbled i think for the second time. I turned to my buddie and said that was a good run but look he needs to hold onto that rock better. He got in traffic and tried to stiff arm while he was being wrapped up. He needs to focus on protecting the rock and forget about stiff arming..................

I hate to see him now become a target for the defense to zero in on but he needs to protect that ball, bottom line. The d held the lions until the ball was coughed up 14 points on turnovers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not to mention some really really bad calls

If Hollings is still out next week why not activate Renaldo Works off the practice squad. We've already seen what Wells can't do.

activate Works? And release who? Probably wont happen because DD is still viable and the Texans are still high on Wells to some point. They wont drop anyone with two workable backs..

Wells might be more effective in the new zone blocking scheme. It seems to help the running backs in Denver. Maybe he could be used to spell Davis some.

The thing that erks me about Davis' fumbles is that none of them are coming from a jarring hit, or somebody punching the ball or stripping. I think maybe one came from stripping the ball. Really it looks as though his forearms are too slippery from sweat or something. As you can see, it looks like the ball just falls out on him during some of his second efforts.

He needs to cover it up with both hands when he gets in traffic. It's that simple, and that comes from practice and good coaching.

Im sure thats what he is working on. I totally agree. He needs to work on how he holds the ball. Im not sure whats different from last year to this year, but something is causing those fumbles.

Every back fumbles. Period. But then again, some backs dont have 4 fumbles in a whole year. Let alone 2 games.

If the coaches insist on keeping DD in the lineup, then they must consider a more balanced attack. Not running him 30 times a game. And when they do pass, throwing it to DD.

Take him out, put in Wells for some pass blocking, and drop some bombs on them. We have 2 many weapons on Offense, not to do that.

If you've never tried to run with a football under your arms wearing rib pads (like most NFL backs use) you don't know how hard it is to hang onto the ball. The football fits snugly under your arm without pads but when you add the rib pads, it adds about an inch of hard bulk at the point where the ball touches your body. The hardness of the pads make the ball feel slippery under your arm. I can't imagine anyone running without both arms on the ball while wearing rib pads. Maybe a simple equipment adjustment would benefit DD. You never know.

Then I would have been the voice of reason and said that with all his rushing yards he is 15th in the league in rushing and that the only reason he is getting the recieving yards is because Carr and/or Capers and/or Palmer forgot that Andre Johnson is on the field.

Does anyone else find it odd that Davis is tied with Torry Holt for 3rd on the NFL receptions list with 16 and Andre Johnson, Jabar Gaffney, and Corey Bradford have a COMBINED 18 and that Roy Williams, Larry Fitzgarald and Peter Warrick have more catches then AJ????

No, because Carr is dumping the ball to Davis on so many of the passes. Is he really being pressured that much? I don't know. I didn't think so yesterday and I have a hard time believing that those wide-outs aren't getting open, especially AJ. I wonder how Davis would do at pass blocking to give Carr more time to throw. Maybe that's a bad idea, though. I don't know.
