Weird how quiet and mellow the crowd was today

I don't know what it was today, the nice weather, holiday mood, too much prozac or good weed at the tailgates, but the crowd was VERY mellow today and it felt more like a picnic than a football game. It was the exact opposite of the loud, raucous crowd we had for the Denver game. It was shockingly quiet on 3rd downs and I felt like the only standing up and yelling during those times. Even after big plays and TDs you did not get the booming noise we usually get. For the most part, the crowd has been good and loud this year. Did anyone else notice the same thing.

Many new faces in our area. Also a lack of many folks wearing Texan gear which is always a clue that these aren't "regulars." The folks around us got "into" the game after the first Davis touchdown - but it still was more quiet than usual. The guy next to me spoke very little English - but by the 4th quarter was a high-fiving fan.

I made my first game at Reliant today and was pretty disappointed. I showed up expecting to yell myself absolutely hoarse with about 60,000 other folks. The folks around me were incredibly tame (but I yelled myself hoarse anyway).

So jealous of you getting to your first game....

The complete lack of crowd noise was embarrassing, and man, it sounded quiet as a church on TV. I hated that considering the bulk of the nation got our early game on CBS.

I will confess, we were dead tired and were not as loud as usual. I did think that things were pretty quiet in the 1st half, but picked up after Davis' 2 TD's.

We were at the Alamo Bowl last night and pretty much lost our voices there. We got up at 6:00 am and drove in for today's game.

Two tailgates in two days apparently is too much fun for me.

After I got thrown out of the Bull Pen for standing I didn't do much yelling.

Oooh, it's story time boys and girls, do tell.

Club level looked empty pretty much all game on tv - which is about par. We noticed some people leaving the "dark side" about mid-4th - apparently those were both native Houstonians and not regulars (I would hope)

edit - nevermind, I found the story

in my section(135 in the south endzone) there were a bunch of new people around me today. Not very many familiar faces and it was pretty quiet. It did get crazy on AD's touchdowns, but that was the majority of it.

Ahhhh.... well, I tried. My section was pretty lame and I finally just decided to yell anyway. I lost my voice and they all acted like they were watching a golf match.

Honestly, I wasn't sure if all the games were like that (quiet) and if my years in LSU's Tiger Stadium had really jaded my perception on what crowd noise is supposed to be like.

Maybe I should just plan to go back next year to have a decent sample size to compare against....

IT WAS HOT!!!!!!

I didn't really get that much into the game until maybe 2nd quarter. Then I got tired. :/ However, I tried my damndest to yell every down.

During the first half, most of the NEZ folks were roaming the concourse. Very HOT, plus the brightness was blinding. I had difficulty looking toward the SEZ due to the glare. I have rx sunglasses too. I spent most of the first half standing by the rail and getting dirty looks everytime I yelled or pumped my arm.

Get this! I first went to the BULLPEN PUB to watch the game on TV. WRONG thing to do. They had ONE stinkin TV with the Texans on, the rest was other NFL games. The tables were pushed against the wall where you could not sit and watch the game at all. Most of the folks sitting there were employess taking their break, or a few fans with kids who were eating. VERY disappointed in that area.
