Joe Texan

Inducted 04
Vince Young is 6-5, 229, That is way bigger than Bush, How does that stand up to David Carr. How does it stand up to any QB past or present. He seems to be the big man on the block and that is a good thing. Now if Vince can't run in the NFL then how is a 6 foot 211 guy gonna get anywhere with the NFL defense. And Vince has the natural ability to read the defense and he can throw it and he cand dish to DD if he cannot run. Thinking back I remember DC running.....................straight out of bounds. Kinda makes you think now doesn't it?

Well David Carr was the leading rusher in the AFC for quarterbacks. It's not like David Carr isn't mobile at all. If you're talking about Reggie Bush, well, they're called running backs. They're supposed to run. Tiki Barber, Warrick Dunn, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, etc...they've all been able to handle NFL defenses and they're all 6 feet or shorter. We don't know if Vince Young will be able to read NFL defenses, we just assume he can because he did in college. Only time will tell if he does it in the NFL. I think Reggie Bush is better in the long run for the Texans than Vince Young. We already have a QB (who we signed to an extension, BTW). We don't need another one.

Carr is 6'3 220. He isn't much smaller than Vince and Vince won't be the biggest QB either. There are a few QBs who are much bigger than him. In fact for his height, Vince is pretty lanky.

I believe Carr has actually lost about 10 lbs since coming into the league. In 2002 he was listed at 6' 3" 230 lbs. Example

Darnell Bing on trying to stop Vince Young said:
It's one of the hardest things possible...We tried to stop them as far as passing. We weren't expecting him to run as much. He takes the ball in his own hands...He's a big guy, a shifter with speed.

Frostee Rucker on Vince Young said:
He's a beast, man. He did his thing. They did an excellent job getting to his passes.

Matt Leinart on Vince Young said:
He's so big and strong. It's tough to prepare for that and stop that.

That's been a common theme all year long. Opponents look at the stat sheet and see 6'5, 230 and think "We've played similar or bigger players". Then when the time comes to play against him, they've never seen anything like him. At least not with those abilities at that size.

Daunte Cullpepper is 6-3' 260, seems bigger in person though. Looked like the frame of a linebacker.

Carr throws side arm so that puts the ball at 6 foot when released. Carr can run so why will Vince have trouble. Carr runs out of bounds and Vince runs down feild. Carrs Contract signing means absolutely nothing but securing him before he becomes a free agent. He is tradable and would probably do a lot better with a new team since he has lost the respect of this team. I do not hate David I just treat him as he treats everyone else.Vince is a leader who thrives to win, Carr thrives to play well. Reggie thrives for the #1 pick money.
Lets put that on paper.

Carr- Runs outta bounds, thrives to play well 6'3" 220

Bush- thrives to get the #1 money, doesnt run up the center, avg less than 20 carries per game, had Lindale White pounding the middle so it made it easy for him to get outside. Also had the Heisman trophy winner at QB.

Young- runs, throws and thrives to win, would give 200% for his hometown team, has over a 60% passer rating in college, 6'5" 230 before bulking up in the NFL, Carried his team in High School, College and will do the same in the NFL

Furgeson- The Brick, Is a solid high first round pick who will amaze from the get go in the NFL

And so on, Hawk, Williams

Really not sure which way to go but I have had some talks with some of our scouts and Bush has some red flags, David has some red flags which could mean just about anything right now.

So he was 6'5 230 before he bulked up for the NFL? I don't know of many guys who "bulk up" by losing a few pounds.

Running QB's are great, versatile, multi-dimensional, nearly unstoppable. Until they get laid out a few times and 5 years down the road when their speed and agility have diminished. Culpepper and Vick, both running QB's at the start of their careers, both season ending injuries in their careers. Vince Young is a great talent, but he needs to learn how to be an nfl qb. He showed plenty of immaturity by his test score and not preparing for it. Bush or Trade down, those who think Vince is still an option need to get over it.

And Vince is absolutely perfect? No red flags at all about Vince Young? My gosh, he's an absolute sure fire hall of famer! Let's pick him! [/sarcasm]

I don't mean to be mean, but that is one of the most lame posts I've read. Talk about a VY :homer:

Let's see, Vince came out THIS year cause he thought he had a good shot as the number 1 pick. He also probably knew his stock could be no higher than it was after his great Rosebowl performance. If you don't think Vince is in it for the money as well, you're sorely mistaken my friend. EVERYONE, especially at the top, is in it for the money.

Before the Rosebowl, Vince said he was going to return for his senior season. At the very best he was projected as a top 10 pick in this years draft from what I've read. But after the Rosebowl, he was a consensus top 3 pick, and he jumped at the opportunity. I don't blame him, he earned it. But to say Vince isn't in it for the money is a completely false statement. If he was in it only to play football, he would have stayed for his final year in college as most analyst stated he should.

Everybody has flags just Reggie and DC's are as red as they come. I am just touching on some points that most Carr fanatics refuse to remember. Sure it will take Vince time to become ready for the NFL. Sure it will take Reggie time also. Everybody who wants to compare Reggie to Emmit needs to step down, Emmit is the greatest running back ever or at least his stats point that way.
Alll you Bush lovers sure do go on the defensive when a stick gets thrown on the fire. For those of you who think Bush is our man, get over it. Test scores mean nothing when it comes to football instinct, and Vince has enough of that to loan some to DC. I trust that our head office minus Charlie can make the right decision. It just tickles me blue to see the rise I get out of talking Reggie or David down.

never said he bulked up yet but thats a pretty good number for a QB with his talents

with a name like "joe texan" you would think he would think before he types...guess not

So I do not think like you so I do not think do I. With a name like spoda you must be Yodas cousin

Never did I once say he was a hall of famer and never did I say lets pick him.
no sarcasm, Its just only fair to pump up who yall knock down and knock down who yall pump up.

I am patiently waiting for the Texans to decide who they want and I will be right there when they do.
