waivers and rb vs. fb

I asked this in my league. On waivers (Yahoo ff), just because you TRY to add a guy, doesn't mean someone else didn't before you? So when waivers clear, the player could go to someone else?

Also, what's better:
2nd string FB or 2nd string RB?

I would go with the 2nd string RB. A full back doesn't get that many carries to begin with. At least a 2nd String RB will see some playing time. Also, the way RBs get hurt your 2nd String RB might be a starter in a few weeks.

Unless there is a pass catching Fb, say a Larry Centers, a few years ago, then basically they have little to no fantasy value. A few exceptions here and there but not enough to worry about.

On Yahoo, there is a waiver priority ranking. It only matters that a team places a claim during the 24 or 48 period. the team with the lowest number i.e. highest priority will get the player. Once a player has cleared waivers, he bocomes a free agent and can be picked up immediately.

I guess I've never played in a big enough/active enough league to have waivers be an issue!
