Good link Texan. I copied this article which is about Hodgdon after he was drafted by the Texans. He sounds very enthusiastic and positive - lets hope he can help us in an area where we need help.

Shortly after being picked by the Houston Texans in the NFL draft, Drew Hodgdon talked to Devils Digest about his special day.
Drew Hodgdon, the former ASU center, was picked in the 5th round (151st overall) by the AFC South Houston Texans who finished 7-9 last season and were considered one of the surprise NFL teams in 2004.
It feels great, said Hodgdon about being drafted by Houston. Im thrilled to be part of the organization and Im anxious to get down there and start working. Theyre obviously an up and coming franchise, and its exciting to see the direction theyre going in and playing for a team like that. They have beautiful facilities there and in talking to the coaches they are really passionate about what they do.
The ex-Sun Devil said that his versatility is an attribute that was attractive to his new team and that may help him in gaining some early playing time. The center they have down there is a veteran, Hodgdon commented, and I guess they wanted someone to come and be his protégé and try to spark some competition. They told me that they were looking for a guy that can play both center and guard, and I imagine they wouldnt lock me into one position or another. But theyre probably thinking of me more so as a center.
Many perceive the NFL draft as an unpredictable event, and Hodgdon can speak first hand of this. In an earlier interview to Devils Digest he mentioned the Vikings, Bills, Panthers, Lions, and the 49ers as the teams that showed the most interest in him. So how do the Texans come in and pick him?
I can definitely say that they showed less interest than other teams (laughs), he said. So I was surprised. The teams that really seemed to be interested in me obviously didnt take me. But I was prepared for that because a lot of my friends in the NFL told me thats what happens.
While Hodgdon is very content with the situation hes in right now, he admitted that he wasnt fond of the waiting game he had to endure. Its frustrating to see guys that go before you that you dont believe have the same value as you, he remarked. The hardest part is just sitting there watching time go by, and for whatever reason you havent been picked yet. But 2/3 of the guys playing at the next level got drafted after the fourth round. So the people that compete arent necessarily the people that go the earliest. So I really dont care about where I got drafted.
Hodgdon did get to talk to the person who took snaps from him the majority of the 2004 season, and reported that Andrew Walter was happy to be an Oakland Raider. He was very pleased, said Hodgdon. Hes obviously an ultra-competitive guy and wants to be perceived as the best pick. He knows its where you go not when you go, and hes very pleased to be in that situation with Oakland.
Now that the NFL draft is completed, Drew Hodgdon looks back with amazement at what has transpired the last few months of his life. (Laughs) Its just a circus! he exclaimed. Its absolutely the most stressful experience that it can be. Im relieved that its over and where Im at, but I can definitely say for anyone going through this in the future to have their head on straight, or its gonna take them under.

Mathis is like a dragster. Just send the kid deep and he'll be open.
Most of his touchdown catches the cornerback was 5-10 feet behind him.
And his kickoff returns were impressive, but I don't think we'll see the quick cuts and spins like JJ had. Mathis seems to be more of a point A to point B runner from what I gathered while watching the video. I see him used as the kickoff returner for sure...just not set on him at punt returns.

Man Mathis can burn!!! On a few of those kick-offs though, that was just good blocking. But some were all him. And not only was the CB behind him 5-10 yards, the throws were under thrown a lot too. so just imagine what he can do when Carr launches one down field. The main thing I wanted to see out of him was his ability to catch the slant and make people miss, and there was no doubt the kid's a player. Good Job Chuck!! 
Now TJ on the otherhand, I wasn't overly impressed with him. He seemed to have great mobility but he was trying to arm tackle too much and it seemed he was late getting there on a few plays. But I like his motor. Coach London will whip him into shape pretty quick.
And Morency...basically DD Jr.

yea DD Jr is exactly what i was thinking the only thing diffrent i think from after watching the tape DD has alot more power than Morency does i've seen DD do the quick cuts and spins but also just straight up run through a few guys but i didnt see any of that from morency.

Don't take this as me saying that your opinion is wrong, one thing you have to remember is that isn't isn't always going to be the first person to the QB unless the O-line is totally incompetent. The thing I got from theTJ video is his drive and never quit work ethic. He's there somewhere in every play. He's 100% go until the whistle blows. I do see your point about the arm tackles though... and I agree that London will work with him on techniques for improving his tackles.
I was extremely impressed with his run stuff ability and that Goal line stop from the video. He kept the guy from even getting the ball across the plane of the goal even with the pile pushing against him. That's pure strength and determination.
" He played against some top flight competition in the Pac 10, namely USC. He played well against a very high rated defensive lineman, to name just one opponent. Also, he played against another top rated first round defensive lineman of Northwestern, Luis Castillo, who went to the San Diego Chargers."

that Cass is refering to who Hodgdon played against was Mike Patterson
from SC who was taken by the Eagles. So basically we get a center who has apparently held his own in 2 different games against two different stud
DTs who both left the board in this years first round - you can't ask for much
more than a recommendation like that other than you get the guy at a fair
price - hey, no problem cause we stold him in the 5th round !
I mean what's the difference between a guy like this and Logan Mankins, the SB champs first round pick who is also slated to play in the interior OL. Both about the same size who are known not to be superior athletes - they make it on determination and hard work.
