Who would you rather have, Vick or LT? The Falcons traded up to the first pick and drafted Vick. The Chargers with the fifth pick took LT. I'm pretty sure the Chargers got some other picks as well, but I'm not really sure...I bet somebody on here knows. This situation sounds very similar to the Texans current situation with Young and Bush.

Vick's teams have been more successful. They were a game away from the Super Bowl last year.

I wasn't really talking teams beacuse I knew someone would bring that up. I was just simply asking who do you think is the better player

LT without a doubt.

He is arguably the best at his position, where Michael Vick isn't even in the top 10

i voted for vick...he's a leader and a winning quarterback. Ladainian can have good games and the chargers still lose.

I believe the Chargers also got Drew Brees out of that deal. I think they got a third player as well, one who has contributed meaningfully.

Your right on Brees.
Nope, the Chargers selected Brees with their own 2nd round pick.

Here are the trade details
Atlanta paid a heavy price to San Diego to acquire Vick in 2001, trading the fifth overall selection that year along with a third- round pick and a second-round pick in 2002 for the right to select the Virginia Tech quarterback with the first pick. The Falcons also threw in receiver/return specialist Tim Dwight.

The Chargers seemed to get the better of the deal when they struck gold with running back LaDainian Tomlinson with the fifth pick and cornerback Tay Cody with the third-rounder. The key to the deal from their perspective was that they used their second-round pick that year, the first pick of the second round, to grab Drew Brees. Wide receiver Reche Caldwell was the guy they got with the second-round pick in 2002.

So the Falcons got the #1 pick (Vick) for Tomlinson, Tay Cody (out of the league), Reche Caldwell (76 catches in 3 seasons), and Tim Dwight (now with the Pats). Basically, it turned into a straight Vick for Tomlinson deal. And most observers would agree that LT has had the better career (if not the hype) thus far.

OK, so the deal allowed them the flexibility to select Brees in the second round when they most likely would not have otherwise.

Caldwell was the third player I was thinking of. While he's not a Pro Bowler or anything, he has contributed meaningfully, especially given how much they utilize their WRs (not much compared to RB and TE).
