Vick at the Pro Bowl

mancunian

Old Timer
Why is Mike Vick going to the Por Bowl. His stats this year are very average, David Carr has thrown for more yards and less INTs than Vick. Vick has completed 54% of his throws DC 61%.

Personally think he's an average QB butI think the media hype him beyond all belief.

Because he's one of the most exciting and popular players in the NFL and outside of Houston David Carr isn't known very well and has been given a bad reputation for the team's lack of success. I've had friends and family members from outside of Texas mention that from what the national media has said earlier in the year that the Texans main problems are at QB and ask if we are going to draft Leinart, so obviously Carr hasn't been given the type of publicity that Vick gets, and in my opinion Carr hasn't gotten as much credit as he deserves.

Same way they hype Reggie Bush. That's why we should trade him if we draft him. We could make a killing off of a trade with the hype-machine behind our backs.

I don't think you can compare Vick and Bush. Vick has not turned into the QB folks expected is the problem. You just aren't going to make the playoffs consistently when your qb is throwing that low of a completion %.

Bush has done what he needs to do to get this hype. He's not hyped in college he's just being hyped for the pros the same way Lebron was. Guess you think CLE should have traded him away for multiple picks as well. :thumbdown

Nobody, but nobody has ever got the hype that Bush has at his level ! Let me remind you that he is yet to take one snap in even an NFL scrimmage or preseason game and many pundits have already virtually nominated him for the HOF in Canton ! I mean Vick is a low profile football player right now compared to Bush, and yet he has paid his dues in the NFL by now with some significant success.

You're kidding me right? How thee forget already. When Vick was coming out people were talkinga bout how he was going to REVOLUTIONIZE the entire game of football with his abilities to run and throw and that there has never and never will be a qb with his abilities to come along for a loooong time.

I mean people are expecting bush to be great yes but please spare in saying vick didn't receive the kind of hype bush is b/c you're right he didn't. he got wayyyy more.

Vick is an NFC QB. Carr is an AFC QB. Vick going to the Pro Bowl doesn't affect Carr.

Carr would have to have better numbers than Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Carson Palmer. How did he rate compared to those guys?

But Vick going over a couple of other NFC QBs is laughable.

Vick - 2297 yards, 15 TDs, 12 INTs, 74.1 rating

Mark Brunell - 2909 yards, 22 TDs, 9 INTs, 87.8 rating
Drew Bledsoe - 3397 yards, 22 TDs, 15 INTs, 86.3 rating

The Pro Bowl is a joke. Half of the players named to the team don't even end up going because they don't want to play. I'm sure Mark Brunell or Drew Bledsoe will end up going in the end because one of the quarterbacks will back out.

The NFC has a pretty sorry set of QBs this year. Just the fact you could make legitimate argument Bledsoe or Brunnell says about all that is needed. Don't forget that Jake Delhomme was also named a starter.

That because the NFC is a subpar conference. The AFC is still the class of the league and has the most talent and the best coaches. The NFC closed the gap a little this year, but that gap is still about a mile wide.

I only used DC as an example to highlight how daft its is that Vick is going to the pro bowl.......ths stats about Bledsoe and Brunell back it up.
