Surprised at this.

My guess is that Elway wanted to keep Wade there, and this likely keeps that D in place with what they are already doing well. I read earlier that Elway wanted Wade staying.

Maybe Elway feels he is a good hire that he can control well and this team feels very little difference. Vance Johnson is an ex WR of Denver who played with Elway so there is that.

Joseph was also interviewed after Fox was fired if I remember correctly, the job going to Kubiak instead.

I don't really agree that you have to get a Offensive minded head coach just because the team is struggling with offense. If the team has a great defense, then bringing someone in to maintain the defense at a top level isn't a bad idea imo. There will still be an offensive coordinator hire who will have a big impact on the offense anyway.

The Texans for example, I don't necessarily want the next head coach to be an offensive guy. I'd actually like someone who can keep this defense at an elite level as the most important thing, and then work steadily away at the offensive deficiencies.
