UT have another player can we pick up for next year?

LionsAllTheWay

Practice Squad
As you know, the Lions have a few University of Texas players--Williams, Rogers, Redding, and Babers (who is on the practice squad but was called up today due to injuries). Anyone on this year's team that can contribute to the Lions next year?

I doubt it though. At this rate they won't have a pick high enough to take him. He'll be a top 10 pick easy maybe even a top 5. He's just that good.

I did some checking, and CBS sportsline has quite a few texans highly ranked:

Cedric Benson (RB, don't need him)
Jason Glynn (C, might take him, if here were there in the 3rd round)
Rodrique Wright (DT, unlikely as Big Daddy has a few years left in him, unless he's available in the 3rd)
Derrick Johnson (LB, you're right, he'll be gone by the Lion's pick)
Dustin Mangum (K, Hanson is signed for 5 years, the most accurate kicker in history from inside 40 yards, 3rd all time on the 50+ made list, it's 40-49 where he's a little iffy, as you saw today)

I like it when UT players go to NFC teams if they don't go to the Texans. That way we only play against them every 4 years. When I heard the Jaguars wanted Roy Williams, I was upset, to say the least.

Yep, and the way this season has started he may not have to leave the state of Texas to get to his NFL team

Benson and Johnson will be the only Srs. from this class of Longhorns that will play in the NFL.

Benson - As you said...with Jones and Pinner...you don't need him.
Glynn - If you want him, you can take him in the 7th round...he'll be there (but don't count on him making the final roster)
Wright - If he comes out early (he's a Jr.), he'll be another high first rounder. 3rd round? Not a chance.
Mangum - Can't see him playing past college.
Johnson - With Teddy Lehman and Boss Bailey...where would you put Johnson?

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
That would be terrible. I would hate to have to play against DJ twice a year and root against him in those games. However it could be worse. He could go to the Titans. Here's hoping he goes to an NFC team.

Derrick Johnson will be a top 3 pick easy, considering he can cover wide recievers much like Boulware could do except he has the body of a linebacker.

Benson will probably go in the middle to late 1st because his 40 time will drive down his stock.

Wright will probably stick around for his senior season like most Longhorns do, but if he came out, he would go in the middle of the 1st. If he waits, he would probably move into the top 10.

Don't the Lions also have Kalen Thornton? He was senior at Texas also, I heard his name mentioned several times during the game, although it may be a different Thornton.

Kalen Thornton was a huge prospect orginally but blew out his knees several times during his career driving down his value.

Where ever he wants, only Bailey is close to his ability, anyway you need three LBS in Detroits system. Wouldn't that be a great LB core for years to come. Bailey, Johnson, and Lehman. :thumbup
