"Texas starting cornerback Tarell Brown was arrested early Monday on marijuana and weapon charges.

Senior cornerback Tarell Brown faces misdemeanor weapons and drug charges in Travis County, Texas, according to a media report.
The newspaper reported that Brown and former Longhorns teammate Aaron Harris, who played on last year's national championship team, were booked at Travis County Central Booking Facility on Monday morning."

This is the last thing we need. Let's create a hole in the passing D just in time for Troy Smith to waltz into town. Good times.

Methinks Brown was spending too much time with Ramonce Taylor.

lol, all my favorite players at UT seem to get into trouble

but since its a misdemeanor it aint as bad right?

and i wanted the texans to draft Brown, oh well

Apparently Tyrell Gatewood was with them (Brown and Aarron Harris) as well.

I'd post that it was a dumb move. But no matter how many times I question the logic or read others questioning it, I still can't understand it.

Frustrating as all get out how stupid people can be at times.

Hey now, this isn't USC or Ohio State.

What makes you think Texas operates any differently? I like the Longhorns and previously lived in Austin but they aren't more moral than any other program no matter how nice Mack Brown comes off.

No matter how bad it can get, it still wont be Miami...

In the sense the Mack Brown won't knowingly recruit a really bad apple, yeah I will listen to that take, but in the sense that they will "take care of" issues, players are getting money under the table, classwork done, not so much.

Wel, yeah, welcome to the wonderfull world of pre-profesional profesional athelets. Its a sad reality of Divison I sports where there is so much money at stake.

I don't see any reason to call them immoral just because of other programs. Tarell Brown has been suspended by the team until further notice, so I think the appropriate steps have been taken. I don't think Mack Brown encouraged the kid to carry a weapon around.

A broader response: I don't trust the system. It's not a question of whether a university team breaks NCAA violations or not; it's a question of whether they get caught. JMO.

Brown has been officially suspended for the OSU game by Mack Brown today. As a former Longhorn, I applaud the move. I'd rather risk losing the game, as important as it might be, than for the program to lose integrity.

I totally agree with you. I feel like Mack Brown has handled the situation as well as possible. :) Hookem Horns

When you're right your right. Just wondering when the powers that be are going to give back SMU, so far the only division 1 program that's had to bite the death penalty apple, all of their schollarships back ?
Aparently , no one really has to monitor their programs very closely. Brown realy hurts, I wanted that guy for the draft next year. Browns "attorney" said he passed a drug test. But after Romance got stupid, you'd figure he'd have better sense than this. to even be in the car with it is very damning. Horns better be careful. their swimming in rico territory. Feds sink their teeth into them...Viya condios.
