Urbana OLB Travis Brisco

Hall of Fame
As many of you know, I spent my early years on the board scouting small school (FCS, D2, D3, NAIA) prospects. While that no longer has my full attention (scouting the "real" schools is more fun/useful), I still browse from time to time, catch the occasional game, etc. One player that I can no longer keep from you all is Urbana OLB Travis Brisco.

Just look at those numbers. 44.5 sacks and counting. 14 FFs and counting. 71.5 TFL and counting. The Texans sorely lack a pass rushing threat outside of Mario and Barwin (and who knows how he will recover), and Brisco could be that guy. Now, from the limited time that I have seen about him, he is not the most fluid in coverage. He is not asked to do it much, so I need to see more film to see if he has the ability. He is, however, incredibly gifted at rushing the passer. He has top notch acceleration (top 5 first step in the nation- any level), and certainly adequate strength.

Right now I have Brisco rated as a fringe 7th/UDFA type. I will keep you all updated on his progress throughout both the season and the draft season.

Just wanted to bump this, as I am going through my small school tape and updating my rankings.

Travis Brisco ended the season with 87 total tackles (28.5 TFL) and 16 sacks. His final career statistics were

44 GP, 319 Total Tackles (7.25 per game), 80 TFL (1.81 per game) and 48 sacks (1.09 per game), to go with 15 FF.

In light of the Texans' switch to the 3-4, I think Brisco will get a look as a free agent after the draft.
