Updated Roster (Post-Draft)

They had a show on cable tv back in the 80's I believe about life after pro football . He was one of the players they focused on and he was broken up bad .

Yeah, I saw that back in the day. It was hard to watch. But he was still a regular up in the box with Al Davis for as long as Al was there.

Not sure about big. I still wonder if OB has interest in Stephen Morris... first QB he scouted.
Well, obviously he is not very well sought after. He signed last year to the PS by the Jags as an UDFA for 6 days. Then signed by the Eagles for 2 weeks after they signed another O'brien standby Thad Lewis yesterday.

#Texans signed former Rams RB Daryl Richardson

Daryl Richardson (Abilene Christian, Rams) adds speed, athleticsm to Texans backfield, runs 4.47, 40 1/2 inch vertical, 11-3 broad jump
.

IF he stays healthy. Throughout the 2013 and 2014 seasons, Richardson has been dealing with a chronic turf tos injury that has virtually negated his speed factor. He's suffered a couple of concussions, the last one being ~a month ago. Hope he works out.....at least, stay on the field.

He'll fit right in with our current carnage

The spot for Aboushi (The tackle that was picked up on waivers last week) was created when Ryan Griffin went on IR boomerang. The spot for Worthy was created when Keshawn Martin was traded for a draft pick swap. It appears that Adams is going to remain on the active roster for another week, meaning all 53 spots are filled, and other than PS moves, those are the only two adds/drops so far.

He's purported ready.........translation......."We're desperate."

New guard Oday Aboushi could be in Texans’ plans this week
By Aaron Wilson on September 23, 2015 6:30 PM

The education of new Texans offensive guard Oday Aboushi involves an accelerated crash course in the offensive playbook.

And Aboushi is learning at a fast enough rate, with the help of offensive line coach Mike Devlin and his teammates, that the former New York Jets starter is under consideration for playing time as soon as this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Aboushi would play left guard, if he plays and likely as a starter, with Derek Newton going back to his natural right tackle spot with Jeff Adams out for the season after Newton started at left guard last Sunday.

“It’s similar terminology and that’s definitely helping a lot,” Aboushi said. “The guys here have been real great with helping me out, all the guys on the line rallying around me and helping me to play fast.”

“With the help I’m getting and the amount of work I’m putting in, I feel confident that this week could be an option. It’s a matter of the guys around me helping me get up to speed. I think it could definitely be an option.”

A 2013 fifth-round draft pick from Virginia, Aboushi started 10 games last season when Jets starter Brian Winter got hurt. He was suspended for the season opener, a punishment stemming from a violation of the NFL substance-abuse policy for a possession of marijuana charge in January in New Jersey where he received a conditional discharge of the misdemeanor.

Aboushi is known for his aggressive style on the field.

“I try to be as physical as possible, that’s my thing,” Aboushi said. “Be physical and impose my will on people. I feed off the energy of the team and the offensive line. That’s how we like to establish my game.”

Texans coach Bill O’Brien was complimentary of Aboushi’s work so far since joining the team.

“It looks to me like Oday is doing a good job of picking it up,” O’Brien said. “He’s a bright guy, similar terminology was used in New York to what we use. He was coached by Mike Devlin before, so he has an idea that way. All those things come into account, but what we do during the week is we practice all those guys so that at the end of the week we can make a decision as to who will be up on the 46.”

I think keeping Adams active is for two reasons (get him a credited season if possible), but also allows for emergency moves on Saturday/Sunday if Grimes can't go on Sunday.

If Grimes is not available to play on Sunday, leaving only two RB's; the team could designate Adams to IR, and sign Richardson off PS to 53 man roster. Just a pure guess on my part though.

That's what I thought you meant but felt Adams being kept on so he could be paid would be the independent real reason not to move him to IR.

As an aside, I believe that Grimes was already injured going into the last game or was injured on his first carry. He only carried once in the 1st Q, then only once again in the 2nd Q, and none in the entire 2nd half, despite the fact that the other RBs were totally ineffective (except for one 13 yd run by Polk). In fact, in his 2 carries, he averaged a higher yds per carry than Polk in his 14 carries. And while Polk carried 7 times in the second half without any impact, in my mind, injury to Grimes makes the most sense for him totally disappearing in the 2nd half. I would from this conclude that the chances are good that we will not see Grimes in the upcoming game, or else he will still be compromised with little expectations of significant effectiveness in the run game.

Couldn't Adams be moved to PS temporarily (with negotiated payment to make up for not being on the roster, without any real impact on the salary cap). I'm sure they could very temporarily find someone on the PS that they felt would not be scooped up in that short period of time it would take for Adams to attain his "time."

Grimes and Foster are both limited in practice so if they can't go then they might want a 3rd RB active this weekend. Enter Richardson.

Doesn't speak well for Hilliard though that we don't even trust him as an emergency #3.

How do we know it won't be Hilliard to get the call up?

And why did we even draft blue and hillard? They are both slow and aren't better than grimes or Polk. And they are similar type guys.

Hilliard and Blue are the same RB's.

Richardson provides something the current RB corps is badly missing. Speed

Would have to waive Adams as injured, clear waivers, go back to team IR, reach injury settlement. Not sure you can sign a player to PS that cannot pass a physical. Short answer, I don't think you can do that with Adams right now.

They have similar skill sets but Blue is easily the better athlete. The Hilliard acquisition never made much sense to me. He doesn't add anything that Blue or Polk don't and both guys are better athletes.

Not sure that he has retained his 2012 speed, as the past 2 years he has been severely affected by his serious turf toe problem. He has never had the toe operated on, which gives me little hope that his performance will not continue to suffer, and his toe not continue to be re-injured until he decides to have it repaired (which in no way guarantees return close to 2012 expectations).
