UCLA putting it to the horns.....

Wow, worst beatdown TU has taken in awhile. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!!! :smiliedance:

I am sure that made you feel better after watching the Coogs get beat down by the same team.

I am a UT guy however I root for most Texas schools. UH is my 2nd favorite followed by A&M believe it or not. Tech is probably the only school I don't mind seeing lose thanks to me being exposed to their fans last season. Hate Texas all you want however either be clever about it or at least have some class about it, Tech fans were neither.

You think the longhorns are about to go through a middle-of-the-pack stretch for a few years? Or is it just a situation where gilbert needs a year or so to gel as the starting QB? When vy left mccoy was able to just step in seemingly without missing a beat. Maybe gilbert wasn't groomed as favorably???

McCoy didn't just step right in there without missing a beat at all. VY was one of the best college QB's of all time. No one was going to go in there and do that. McCoy struggled a lot his Freshman season and the Longhorns lost 3 games and could have lost like 5 if some freak stuff didn't happen in at least two of those games. The 2nd season after that he had a worse season and many people questioned him while the Longhorns lost another 3 games. Then it was his Junior season where he took off and almost won the Heisman and was amazing. His Senior season was still good, but it wasn't anywhere near his Junior season was.

Gilbert just needs time to and needs chemistry with these receivers. Mack and Greg Davis can't figure out who to keep in the games at WR and RB. They need to find out who their best play makers are and they're not doing that. By next season Gilbert will be throwing it all over the place. His talent is to strong not to.

I have no dog in this fight (went to a division 2 school in the midwest), but as long as Mac Brown's heading up recruiting, there will not be a "middle-of-the-pack stretch for a few years". An off year once in a while (and that could be this year as I see Oklahoma as a tough challenge, and Nebraska as better than either UT or OU), but no prolonged period of hovering around .500.

When Mac decides to hang it up, then all bets are off. That said, I don't see that day coming any time soon, and I certainly don't see Muschamp still being around when it does.

Losing on the ROAD by 18 is better than getting punked at HOME 22! :whip:

Good post. Watching the game Saturday was difficult. I ended up turning the game off around the third quarter.

Watching Greg Davis run then offense at UT is like pulling teeth. It's really embarrassing watching Mack continually recruit top tier talent and see them have to wait around for Greg to figure out how to best utilize them.

Truth is they struggled in the run game terribly last year and it's a real tribute to the talent and hard work of McCoy and perseverance of Jordan Shipley that they made it to the title game. McCoy looked impressive on the first drive til he got knocked out. They still could've made the game even closer had it not taken forever for Davis to just let Gilbert sling it.It's pretty much what they need to do now.

What's painful rightnnow seeing them trying to run is that they don't have a guy they can just hand it off to and have him run between the tackles. But, they do have a ton of speed at RB. They need to get the ball to these guys in space likenon tosses, sweeps, or stretch plays. Hell slip in some option plays even.

If Mack put someone half as capable as Muschamp as his o coordinator this team would win the it's conference every year. Far as him staying, he's passed up some real nice Hc gigs already, and I really hope he continues to do so. Really at the end of the day he's got a nice gig there. HC in waiting and in the mean time he has Mack recruiting top tier talent. I have total confidence that if Will stays the program will at least stay at the same level.

Far as A&M fans not being able to wait til November, just remember a lot can change between now and then.

Come on now Hookem, you can't generalize an entire fanbase like that. I know there are several Tech fans on this very board that are great fans with tons of class.

I was at a bachelor party for the Tech/UT game a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know half of the guys there (my friends college buddies who were all complete douche nozzles). Every single one of them were UT fans and gave me the business the second they saw my TT gear.

I literally woke up in the morning, stepped out to smoke a cigarette, the first thing anyone said to me was eat a tortilla you F'ing "gay person", I had just met this guy 8 hours previously and didn't even talk to him other than to say hello. They all talked down on me all day, but I took the high road and simply ignored them.

When the game started, I was sitting on the couch watching quietly, trying to mind my own business while some crazy loser (who looked like he was on a 4-day meth and booze binge) literally screamed as loud as he could at me and the TV.

Up to this point I was ok with it, these guys were jackasses and there's nothing I could do about that. Then some dude, who I didn't even know, comes up behind me and squeezes a tomato over my head all over my brand new hat and shirt. Long story short I ended up catching him right on the chin with a retaliatory tomato (it really was a hell of a throw). But apparently it was only funny when he did it to me, dude tried to fight me which turned into like a 45 min ordeal all while the game was going on.

I called it a night and went to sleep and when I woke up I found my Tech hat filled with mustard. The perfect end to the perfect weekend. These are grown ass 30 year old men acting like this because of a football team. I'm about as big a football fan as they come but I stay out of the petty nonsense like this as best I can.

Funny thing about it is that not one of these guys went to UT. They all graduated from Texas State, that seems to be a theme among a lot of Texas fans.

This isn't the worst instance I can think of, just the most recent. I have friends who have been spit on, had drinks poured over them, and been cussed out by UT fans in the past for no particular reason at all.

tldr: Tech has bad fans, UT has bad fans, Tech has good fans, UT has good fans.

There is just absolutely no need for a grown man to be acting like that. I guess it's a good thing I am married and do most of my football watching at home, and I don't have to deal with jackasses like that too often. I never understood berading others because they are supporting their team. I usually take it as an opportunity to chat them up and talk football. Nothing wrong with a little friendly banter, obviously this wasn't the case. Good thing you took the high road, not really worth the hassle of knocking his teeth out.

Damn, I was thinking these guys were like 18-19 yrs old while reading of your ordeal. Your "friend" didn't give you a hand or tell his supposed buddies to leave you alone or play nice? Sounds like not much of a friend to me. I'm a UT fan and I would have chin checked that asshat who squeezed the tomato for sure. These dudes sounded like they still have not grown past the college frat boy stage, and probably still think popped collars make you cool.

You know this sounds almost like a parallel when Texans fans describe Cowboy fans. Some Cowboy fans say they never see this behaviour and think Texan fan makes it up.
