How does it feel to be the newest member of the Houston Texans?

It feels great to be a part of an organization like this.

Did you see them on your radar screen as your draft approached?

Yeah, it something prayed about. And something I really wanted to be a part of, and the Lord blessed me with the opportunity to come here and be a Texan.

What do you know about the 3-4 defense, because that is what they have going on there?

I know what the coaches tell me. I really just want to come there and do my best to get on the field and help the team out.

The other good thing about the Texans is they have both Seth Payne and Gary Walker on the team. Those will be two guys perfect to learn from.

Of course. Seth has been in the league for nine years and Gary for a long time. They are great guys to be able to have the opportunity to learn from.

How did the Texans tell you they were picking you?

They called me up and asked me a couple questions. They asked, "If I wanted to be a Houston Texan." I said, "Yeah!"

What else do you know about Houston?

I don't know much, but I love the weather.

Are you glad you are not going to a cold weather town?

Yeah, it is a blessing.

Whoa has he ever been to Houston? Because I don't no anyone else that loves the weather here! Also I find it all lil wierd that he prayed we picked him? How if no one even thought he would go before the 18th pick? Other than that I guess the guy is ok but I just really think that he was told to answer that and that by next year he'll be our Ryan Leaf. But I promise not to complain bout him again unless he starts sucking but only because CC and Dom know how to draft in the 1st.

Wheres this thug I keep hearing aobut? He seems like a really good guy.

Live up north for a winter then tell me you dont love Houston weather. I lived in Boston for one year and I plan on never coming back, weather is one of the main reasons.

Everyone acts like that when they first join a team... They all have coaches that teach them what to say. We will see what he is truly like in a year or 2. Hopefully he IS a good guy, and not just acting that way.

Thats what I most fear bout this guy. Some players in the drafts get coached on what to answer in their interviews so they seem like the team player and all around good guy and its such a problem that scouts have to come up with new ways to ask simple questions and hopefully catch the player off guard. I hope this guy is as happy to be a Texan as he says he is.

I saw him on NFL Network doing an interview the day of or after the draft and he stopped there while on his way to the airport to catch a plane from California to Houston to do the interview. They talked with him for about 10 minutes and they showed clips of him at home with his family/friends before during and after he got the call from Casserly. He seemed like a good guy to me.

Do you think there's ever a time when a team calls a draftee and asks if they want to be a part of the team, just before they pick... and the draftee says no? :hmmm:

Does Eli Manning ring a bell?

Nope because Eli didn't say no. He said there is no way that I'll ever be throwing in San Diego.

I was watching The Best Damn Sports Show Period the other day and it had a little skit with Matt Leinart in it. Matt was sitting on a couch watching the draft. You hear in the background "The 49ers draft Alex Smith from Utah". Matt turns off the tv and says "Whew, I dodged a bullet there". It was funny. Not the funniest thing ever, but it was comical. :thumbup

Are you guys serious? Do you think during an interview and with his family he would be like, "Now that I got drafted I am gonna take over and take those veterans spots. Its time for the wrinkled old farts to get out of the way and let a real man lead the defense"

I mean seriously.

I live in Canada, and I know what your talkin about, it snowed over here today. I was in texas like 6 years ago and i'm going again in june, and i loved the weather

I'm currently stuck in VA and its too Northern for me. lol

I miss the heat. It gets 80 degrees here and these folks act like they are going to fall out and melt.

As far as what kind of guy he is....folks let's be honest. Do you ever really know? Athletes and politicians aren't far from the same breed when it comes to answering questions. They say what you are SUPPOSE to say if you are a team player.

Almost sure that Elway pulled that move. Refusing to play for a team, I'm not looking it up, but I think he was originally drafted by the Colts. Refused to play for them, and Denver traded a good deal to get him. Which obviously turned out to be the right move.

Yea that's the Elway Maneuver. I mean i guess you can't force a guy to report to a team but its almost insane b/c anyone can threaten not to report. But I guess if you're good enough your value won't diminish too much.

I think TJ wont be a bust for us...

1) Explosive of the stance
2) Sheds blockers and gets upfield..... :woot :thumbup :thumbup

that was in a 4-3 and against college linemen. Now he will be double teamed in a 3-4, and will be going against bigger/stronger players. He needs to bulk up this year and get ready for next.

Where in my quote did I say any of that?
