Trading with the Saints . . . lol!

I read this letter to the Chronicle today, and I couldn't help but laugh, as I have read this same idea on the board many times. The writer has read my mind.

Not much of a deal for Saints

I can't believe how many times I have heard the "novel" trade idea of sending David Carr and Domanick Davis to the Saints for the second overall pick just so the Texans can draft both Reggie Bush and Vince Young. I have heard this many times by word of mouth, numerous times on talk radio, and even a couple of times in these daily letters. What is the Saints' motivation for this "fair" deal? Why would the Saints pass on a potential superstar to get two average players from last year's worst team in football?

The Saints ought to make an offer to the Texans for Aaron Brooks and Deuce McAllister for the No. 1 pick just so they can have both Bush and Young. To all the Texans fans who would balk at that offer, now you know how the Saints fans must feel about your idea of getting both Bush and Young on the Texans.

RICK PRATHER, Tomball

So, how does that work out in an even trade?? Carr & DD for Brooks & Duece??

Who wins that deal??

If we gave them Carr & DD for their #2 pick, they'll feel as though they got the short end of the stick.

If we get Duece & Brooks for our #1, we'd feel robbed.

I'm asking which, is the better pair, Brooks & Duece, or Carr & Davis......

Carr and Davis, IMO. But not by a long shot.

Wow, they actually printed a sane letter.

Most of the Chronicle sports letter of the days are bizarre. You would think in a city of this size they could get some better quality letters. Or maybe they mostly print the stupid ones.

I'd say about 1% of the letters they publish aren't just ridiculous.

They'll print the one's that will get the most response from the readers, usually the stupid ones.

there's nothing sane at all about that letter

Okay, can you elaborate on this? It seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Who knows, maybe you would do the Carr/Davis for 2nd pick if you were them, but I wouldn't and I like both of those players. The Saints need excitement and neither of those players would generate a lot of excitement.

A more resonable trade with them would be a sign and trade david carr and next years first round pic and their second round pick back this year for a sign and trade lecharles bentley and this years first round pick

This is not basketball, there are no sign and trades. If you sign a player then trade him, you eat his salary, in Carr's case, an 8 million dollar cap hit..nice.

We give up David Carr, our 2007 1st round pick, and the #66 pick this year for LeCharles Bentley and the #2 pick this year? That would be a pretty quick acceptance on their part, that trade is awful, we give up a good QB and two draft picks for a good C and a draft pick, plus we take on an $8 million cap hit, then we draft Vince and Bush and pay them a combined $100 million to sink our cap for the next six years too?

Six years of kick @$$ (BUTT) football. i would take that deal. Bentley is a pro bowl center, and then we are getting 2 pro bowlers in the draft. countem'
1...2...3, thats 3 pro bowlers in one year, nay, in one month. thats a deal worth attention by any ones standards...or atleast mine.:)

Ya know ...I'll fess up ...the Carr/Davis trade offer for the number 2 pick was my idea ...that's right ...I started that. And when I said it ...it sounded brilliant ...fool-proof even ...just an all-around good for everybody type of idea.

NOW, when you say it ...in this context ...it sounds so cheap, laughable, and dare I say ....stupid.

So to you ...I say ...SHAME ON YOU! How dare you rob us of our moment to consider the possibility. You have no right to be sucking up all of Vince Young's oxygen ...the guy's got a team to save! AND HE NEEDS OUR SUPPORT! :superman: :superman: :superman:

Trading with the Saints does make sense but only from the point that the Saints are dead set on taking Lienert and don't want to jeopardize the chance that another team could move up and take him.

I realize that this is not basketball run -david- run , but as we are sucking up davids salarey the saints would be sucking up lecharels bentleys salary witch would mean we are geting a all pro center and a qb for 8 million instead of just a qb!

Rome we would end up paying Bentley's salary because they would Franchise him which means if he is traded they dont incur a cap hit.

Wow...I'm not sure if this is just a very old post..there's no time posted on it..but, we no longer have Brooks or Bentley...they were both allready released...besides..Carr/Davis is about the lamest combo in the League...Brooks/Deuce outshines them by a mile...that was a pipe dream if I ever saw one...
