Trade with the Jets...

The Jets still seem like the most logical trade partner if we move down b/c they will need to move up to get one of the "big 3" (Bush, Lienert, Young). And at #4 we are still pretty much guaranteed to get D'Brick so fans would not be so upset.

So what else would you want from the Jets if they were willing to give you their #4 overall pick and John Abraham as part of a deal to get our #1 pick? I'm not sure if that is enough, but what would sweeten up the deal enough to get you to pull the trigger?

They might be the most logical trading partner, but I don't see it happening. The Jets have too many holes in addition to being way over the cap to give up picks and players to spend more money that they do not have. I believe the Jets will either trade down or pick one of the following (Cutler, Ferguson, or DeAngelo Williams).

But, to answer your question. If we were to trade with the Jets, I would want at least another second or possibly future 1st with their first and Abraham.

If New Orleans wants Leinert then they will have to trade up to get him because some team out there will have him targeted and be willing to move up. I have a really good feeling that the Texans are gonna get some mega offers to trade down that are just too good to pass up.

New Orleans is not going to trade up. Benson is by far the cheapest owner and will go out of his way to save a few million dollars.

I don't think this trade will happen. If it did, then I think the Texans will only get the Jets 1st, 2nd, and maybe another later round pick this year. No way we get another 1st for next year. Also, the jets are rumored to try to trade Abraham to a team in the later part of the first for thier first round.

That trade is wonderful for the Texans. First we get a DE which is a huge need because we are moving to the 4-3. Also, the pickup of Brick at the #4. The only question I have is why would the Jets do this? I know they need a RB and QB if they drop Pennington, but at what cost?

I think moving from the #4 to #1 this year is going to cost them at the very least Abraham and a #1 next year and the #4 this year. Which is a steal if they take bush and he turns out as good as Tomblinson.

Realistically, Abrahams, the #4 pick and the Jets 3rd RD pick this year is very close to fair value for the Texans #1 pick. 1200 is the difference in value between 1 and 4. The Jets will probably consider Abrahams value, after he is franchised, to be worth 1000 since he was the 13th pick in the 00' draft and is now a premier pass rusher in the league. The Jets 3rd RD pick has value of 230 which make it very close to the 1200 difference.

I know many will question this post, so if you do and want some kind of confirmation check out the 01 draft when Atlanta #5 traded up with San Diego #1 to get Mike Vike.

Atlanta traded their 01' #5 pick, Tim Dwight WR (a 4th RD 114th pick), 01'-3rd RD and their 02'-2nd RD to move up to #1. The difference here is San Diego placed a value of 480 on Dwight to achieve fair value. Abrahams has considerably more value. San Diego then drafted Tomlinson with the 5th pick.

If you go to a Jets Message Board you will notice that no one is even considering that they will trade up. Everyone over there is saying that they are going to trade down because they have too many holes and can get a QB or a RB staying where they are or trading down.

I agree with their assessment too. Every team is looking to trade down and get more picks for this year and next because this draft is loaded with talent in the first few rounds and next years draft will probably be just as loaded because you have a bunch of big names most likely entering (Adrian Peterson, Brady Quinn, Calvin Johnson). As much as I would love to trade down get a big stud like D'Brick or Mario plus extra picks this year and next, I don't think it is going to happen. We are going to stay put and take the best player in the draft which happens to be Reggie Bush.
