imagine you have control of the 16th pick. Is there a player in this draft that you'd be willing to trade up to get? What would you be willing to give & how far up do you think that would get you?

Kevin White WR - 1st and 2nd to #8 (maybe #7) if he got there.

Bears and Falcons both have 1st year coaches who will want to turn roster.

too early to tell. Let me prevaricate for another 5 days or so

Obrien will run after Hackenburg next year if Mallet and Hoyer flops. PSU HAS an easy schedule , he'll go top 5 if not 1.1

Hackenberg sucked last year. He has a long way to go top be a 1.1. And if the Texans are able draft near there, O'Brien needs to be gone.

In other words, I don't think any of that happens.

There's no quarterback I'd want to trade up for, and unless the Texans feel strongly about Randy Gregory or Bud Dupree, there isn't a non-QB I think they should trade up for. Plus, as others have mentioned, I'd rather have picks ready for next year.

I don't get the idea OB is fascinated with Hackenberg. OK, sure he recruited him and I'm sure he likes him and he fits his "mold" for a QB, but it isn't like OB was getting his top choice or necessarily even anyone in his top 10 choices recruiting to Penn State.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying this. Is Hackenburg projected to be the best qb coming out?

yep, recruiting for a college might be a tad different than conducting a NFL draft

Not even the best QB in the Big 10 (or 11 or however many teams are in the conference). Ohio State might have 2 that are better.

In fairness to Hackenberg, he apparently had a really terrible line for most of the year? I caught his game against Boston College and he looked Peyton-esque on a game-winning EDIT: game-tying 2-minute drive if I remember the time correctly. I rarely watch Penn State, admittedly.

If nothing else, I don't think his first year was some fluke short of him being even worse in year three. Aside from Hackenberg, though, the other big name to watch is Connor Cook out of Michigan State.

Woof. I had heard about his line but I didn't realize he was sacked more the double the rate, unless someone is able to correct me or point out how many sacks were on him and not the line.

If I'm not mistaken Penn state doesn't have a good run game to take some weight off either

Never a dull moment with the Chipper. I dunno is he the best thing to happen to Philly since Stalone-Rocky ?

Actually a lot of people are getting tired of him real quick. Lol at the rocky statue. It kills me the idiots up here worship a fictitious character. On the other side of the coin as a good friend of mine says " if he he sinks or swims, don't you want chip to have HIS guys, that way the blame is all on him "

Yes I live in Philadelphia. But I despise... No hate all Philadelphia sports teams. To make a long story short on how I ended up as a Texans, stros, and rockets fan is in 1993 I went to my first baseball game, stros vs phillies. I somehow ended up going home with an Astros pennant (blue and gold). From there my love began. Bagwell is all my all time favorite baseball player. Moon was my fav QB and i believed in "the dream" Olajuwon. Buddy of mine who's a chiefs fan says I'm from "far northeast Texas". Kind of how Big Charlie's ( Chiefs bar in Philadelphia) is considered arrowhead east

No, that's the annual, predictable "We should trade down." thread. I'm asking if there's anyone you're willing to trade up for.

We were talking about all kinds of trades. Here's one post.

I would trade up for:
Mariota
Leonard Williams
Cooper
White
Beasley
Winston (if everything checks out)

They're the best players in this draft. They're difference makers.
I would take Winston off my list, now. Because I don't think everything checks out.

I'm not an Eagles fan I'm a Chip Kelly fan (now that makes me an Eagles fan too, lol). What he has done so far is remarkable in two short years, now he has total control. Your right it's all on him, but I couldn't think of someone else I would rather throw all my "chips" on the table for to lead this wretched franchise out of mediocrity into a playoff contender again. :wesmantexanfan:

Not necessary to trade up. They should take Bryce Petty. I don't think he'll last till midway in the 2nd. Take him at 16.

But I don't think the Texans will do it. Which will happen first? Will the Texans have a good QB or will Josh Smith hit a free throw?

why do you want Petty or think he's going to go before #51?

If it cost us more than our 5th no thanks.

Nothing more than our 1st and 5th would enable us to move up what, one spot?

There is no player you have ranked higher than a #15 drat slot?

Question wasn't do you want to trade up

I would trade up for Amari Cooper or Kevin White. But only if they fell in the 10-11 range. Mariota if he fell past the same range.

Nobody else at the top of the draft has the apple of my eye. Mariota doesn't even really have it as much as if he came out last year but i still think he's going to be a good QB.

Actually, if I valued Arik Armstead high enough I would offer Miami a 5th to move up 2 spots so we could grab him ahead of San Francisco. That's about it as far as non-QBs go, though.

Kevin White, but it'd likely need to move up to 4th for raiders pick or 7 if they choose Cooper instead.

I like Parker as well and if he drops to 12 that'd be a tempting trade up to make.

I'd like to have White, but as so many comment, there's value to be had at lower picks. So no, I would not trade up. The entire premise of my draft this year is that, with a few key additions, we are a legitimate playoff caliber team. I would not sacrifice my second or third round picks, or the additions they represent, to the overall improvement of this year's roster.

I'm not a trade up kinda guy, I live in the moment of cashing in on others mistakes, however this year, this draft is a different story. Texans "War Room" has probably put the finishing touches on their "Big Board" so they know who & where they need to go if things heat up. I'm looking for hoopla surrounding top two QB's to engage multiple teams creating a trade down mentality for more value. Not sure how applicable the "Draft Value Chart" is today but if you take pick #16 it says the value is worth 1000 points. If you double that, 2000 points it equals (#5 1700) between #3 & #4 picks, hence offering Washington this years #1 plus next years #1 should net the #5 pick. Texans target Vic Beasley.

I would like to have Beasley, but not at the expense of two firsts

You don't get full value for next year's picks. Conventional wisdom is one round lower per year. So a 1st this year and 1st next year is equivalent to a 1st and 2nd this year...which gets you to 1400 and #8.

both Washington & Atlanta will have Beasley high on their board too so Skins would have to pass then onto possibly Chicago one pick ahead of Atlanta. So Texans would have to throw in a 3rd or 4th to move to 7?
