Trade down with Jets and take Mario?

If we trade down with the Jets and they give us their 4 and Abraham. Then we take Mario Williams (the poor man's Julius Peppers, the guy we should've taken first in 02) we would be off to a pretty good start on defense eh? Defense wins championships and with Abraham and Williams on the ends and Travis Johnson at dt along with G Funk and Payne we could have a pretty good d line. Im thinking Abraham, Williams, and Johnson can make for one hell of a pass rush!!!

The problem with your idea is, I don't think the Jets are going to trade up. All they have to do is sit & wait to see which of the big 4 players drop to them. All 4 players fill a huge need on their team (unless they resign Pennington) & won't cost them any extra picks. If anything, they'll trade down.

This is what might cause the Texans to have sleepless nights. If they've made up their minds to take D'Brick, they may have to take him with the #1 pick, or risk losing him. However, if they've decided on Mario Williams or A.J.Hawk, then they might be able to trade down to the 5-6 spot. In any event, it'll be interesting to see what they ultimately do. And, of course, not everyone will be happy with their decision.

Free Agency and the Combine will tell all. Houston can wait till the last second to pull the trigger on a trade;with that being said look for Houston to hold it's cards and let another team like the Saints to fold their cards in a trade to the Cowboys or stay put. If the Jets Release Pennington, and the Titans are as high on Cutler; we can grab Bush at the #3 or 4 position. Looks like the Jets are high on Lienart. It may be 3 QB's go 1,2,&3 in the draft. All depends if that Saints and Cowboys trade go down.

It may go like this in the most likey order:

1. Texans: Bush

2 Saints: Lienart

3. Titans: Young

4. Jets: Cutler/ D'Brick

or 1. Titans: Lienart

2. Cowboys: Young

3. Texans: Bush

4. Jets : Cutler,D' Brick

or 1. Jets: Lienart

2. Cowboys: Young

3. Titans: Cutler

4. Houston: Bush

These three draft and trade scenarios I could see going down. :homer: :stirpot:

I just posted a full three-round mock draft in which I traded down w/ the Jets. I think that trading down w/ them is a possibility if we don't demand Abraham. With the #4 pick we could take Mario Williams and the Jets still have Abraham...they could still use Abraham as trade bait to get a high 2nd, 3rd, or combo to negate one of the picks that they would be giving up to us.

While the trade scenario that I used (our #1 for their #4, 2nd round, and 2007 1st round,) may not add up on the value board, I believe it would allow us to make some moves that are necessary.

Check out this scenario and entire mock if you get a chance...I'm interested in some feedback.:)

hey man this mock is pretty good but i think if we really do trade with the jets i think they could take young or leinert more than bush because FA is full of RB's

Thanks...

Yeah, the Jets could take VY or Leinart, but I just don't think they'd want to pass on Bush in the media-crazed city of NY.

Good point Austin ! And what's more, they have to compete with the Giants
for the attention of that media-crazed city. Right now, the Giants are riding
high, having just got into the playoffs. The way you trump that accomplishment is to add Reggie to your team. You bet, the Jets are a definitely a potential trading partner in the Reggie Draft.
