Trade down to #5-10 spot

We need the extra picks. The QB deal with the Jets is a goner. people are going to trade with NO instead of us and the Titans can sit tight, as can Jets, for that matter.

So now we have to trade to the 5 or later slot. I think we can go all the way to 10 and still get a difference-maker. You've got 3 QBs and Reggie at 1-4, then DBrick, SuperMario, Lewis, and a couple of guys I'm forgetting.

Does anybody think the Raiders would give something for the #1? Who else is possible? I think we have to get out of #1 unless Vince is the pick. If you can convince yourself that Vince is such a special case that the #1 is worth taking a risk on, and I don't think that's going to happen. However, if we get out of 1 and get down around 7-10, and Vince has fallen that far, I think we take him and make sure picks with the extras we get for the trade.

Meanwhile, NO is stealing our thunder advertising that they're trading.
 
Hate to burst your bubble but we aren't trading the pick.

All of the teams that might trade up to #1 to get a major playmaker like Bush or Leinart (not Young) have too many holes to give up several draft picks to get one player. The Raiders can stay at 7 and get Vince Young because the Saints aren't taking a QB, the Jets aren't taking a QB, the Packers aren't taking a QB, and the Niners aren't taking a QB.
 
After everything that has happened in the last few days as far as free agency goes, we can pretty much forget trading the 1st pick, unless there is a team out there that is totally in love with Bush and just has to have him.
 
I think we're MORE likely to trade down now than ever. The question is, who can we trade with? There's a mention of the Vikes? We have to get reasonable on the demands, though. Nobody's giving away the store this year.
 
The team that wants Leinert ,IMO, will still have to deal with Texans since it is obvious Texans and Saints are not taking Leinert. Yeah, Titans and Saints could flip flop their positions. But, Jets could still jump to us to grab Leinert. We can't ask for as much as usual since the teams we are dealing with can't afford to give up so many draft picks. Maybe an extra 2nd and 2007 2nd round.

Say, we get Jets #4 pick ; Mario Williams will be gone by then..Who do we pick....D'Brick probably gone at #3....AJ Hawk?....Vernon Davis? Bush?

Maybe we should just pick Mario at #1 .
 
the best move that i could see is the Titans 3rd and next year's 2nd to move up to number 1 to take leinhart, which would leave us at number 3 looking at Reggie or Mario depending on what the Saints do.
 
The Saints are in a better spot to trade . The Texans will decide between Mario and Bush .

The Texans are in the same boat that the 49ers were in last year . This year at least theres elite prospects to choose from .

You're probably right, jeez I'd hate to be in this position with last years draft class. :cool:
 
Right now it is looking like this in the draft based upon our FA moves. This is also assuming we sign Putzier.

1. Reggie or Mario
2. Best CB or OL depending on who is rated higher
3a Free Safety or OL whoever is rated higher
3b. Best WR or interior OL or DE whoever is rated higher
4. Interior OL, LB, or TE depends on the rating
5. BPA athlete
6. BPA
7. QB
 
I would like Mario but I think with the Weaver signing its going to be Bush .

In this draft the depth is OT , TE , LB . To me this means in the 2nd you take a CB because there will be A TE and OT in the 3rd . The CB pool in the 3rd will be dried up .
 
Honoring Earl I am hoping by some chance Jonathan Joseph falls to us in the second. Other than Mangold and Winston and some other sure first round guys I would be hard pressed to take anyone else. It would be sweet if we got Mario, and Bunkley, but I will have to wait for Madden to make that a reality.
 
I think Jimmy Williams will be the one to fall ... but after watching him act a fool in their bowl game I might pass on him also .

I believe a player of 1st round quality like Winston will fall . I guess you then take him and hope PBuch comes back strong .
