I think ive filled every immediate need with this draft. We have our franchise left tackle, our tight end of the future, a stud defensive end, depth at end, a cornerback, safety for depth, and a guard for depth. A fullback for depth, or to start, and last but not least, a QB in the 7th round. I like Olson, and wonder why he is not slated to go in the 3rd round.

Let me know your thoughts.

Very Good Man. U got all of our needs in the early rounds. And got some good young backups in the l8r rounds. Only 1 question. When we trade r 1st, were gonna get the jets 1st round pick next year, right?

Thanks.

I figure if we trade down, we will trade down to the 3-6 range. So they would get the #1 overall pick. And we would get their first round pick this year, 2nd round pick this year, and first round pick next year.

So to answer your question. Yes.

I love it, beautiful, I dont think that there is really anything to change, I might have drafted a LB, but the more I think about Manny Lawson, the more I like him.

That'd be awesome but I don't see it possible that the top 3 TEs arn't gone by the end of the 1st and I think after Lawsons Senior Bowl performance and what he'll do with his amazing skills at the combine, he'll be taken as a project LB/DE by one of the late teams in the 1st as well

Well, overall I like this. The first 3 picks are great. I would not take Blackmon since he has not even established himself at his position at the collegiate level. I would sub in Jason Allen if we must go CB. Davin Joseph is a great OG, but for our system? Maybe sub a Mangold/Setterson. We really do not need a FB, we have one of the best in the league. I would replace Rucker with a MLB, maybe a McIntosh/Nick Ried. Threat would be ok, maybe a Slay, maybe another OG. I love Olson in the 7th.

2 very good points... Davin Joseph may not be mobile enough to be a good OG in the zone blocking scheme, and if we take Lawson in the 2nd, I would rather take a LB than draft another DE.

Babin wont play OLB in the 4-3, too slow, so when he goes and puts his hand down you dont need to draft Manny Lawson. Instead u need an OLB like Thomas Howard from UTEP.

i think i would pass up will blackmon in the 3rd and look for a linebacker. Maybe AJ Nicholson or Spencer Havner (if he slips that far)

howard will be a 1st rounder, so there really isnt any way of getting him.

Seems like everyone wants to take a linebacker. But with Wong, GreenWood, Anderson, Babin, Peek, and Shantee Orr, I think we have good talent at the linebacker corps. I think we need to punch up the D-line. Now that we need 4 starters, not 3. If we do trade one player for a linebacker, make it Blackmon. I think Faggins, and Buchanon can handle 2nd, and 3rd fiddle. Plus I like McKenzie.

And on Manny going in the 1st round, that is a good posibility, but right now he is projected first day. And with the first pick in the 2nd, thats basically a first in my eyes.

Other than that, good comments everyone.

I think we need a Linebacker but I am more than willing to wait until next year were I like the idea of using our first round pick on one.

Well what I noticed first is you traded down and got D'Brick. Forgive my dislike, but not the best pick that could be made at that pick. Mario Williams is the pick if we trade down. Bottom line take a DE that will anchor the side our HC does not have his specialty in. Also, taking a TE that early is a waste you should wait till third or fourth round and sign one of the young TEs that are available in FA. Jonathan Joseph in the third is a good pickup and the 4th I would be looking at Rocky McIntosh or David Thomas. Like the 7th round pick I guess would rathe have a guy like Chris Gocong. Nick Mangold did not make it into your list and he should be a guy we are definately going after if you are getting rid of McKinney. Then after you made you picks you put Pitts back at G when he is much better at Tackle and you start Wade. Nice thought and work, but just a little too predictable and does not address needs. You also drafted a FB come on man.

That was the point of Lawson. Thats fine if you dont like the pick, but to act like not getting a DE in the first will not anchor a line is funny.

I wouldnt say being able to get Lewis in the 2nd is a waste.

Its Davin. Jonathan Joseph is a CB from South Carolina.

I like Nick too. But I cant waste a spot in the 2nd or 3rd on him, because we have many other needs. I also like Drew Hodgdon, and Washington can be the backup. Also you can try and get Bently in FA. Pitts will be able to help out a rookie LT, and Wade has a huge contract, and I will not let him ride the bench with it. I would just like to see him bring his pass blocking up.

Are you serious? a LT, TE, DE, OG, and SS, and I did not address need? Yes, I drafted a FB for depth, and to compete for the spot. If you are happy with Norris at FB, with no pressure from anyone, and no depth, then that is your choice. Sorry my mock wasnt off the wall enough for you. Next time ill make sure to trade down and take Vernon Davis.

Bain is not going to play OLB in the 4-3. He will be a DE. That was assumed. Wong is then the closest to a MLB we have, but he is an OLB. Greenwood and Orr are both OLB. Polk is an OLB. OLB is NOT a need. MLB is THE LB need!!!

Wow NFL draft like how you addressed each point in my post. First I saw that you picked Lawson and at 240 lbs, yes that is what he weighed in at while I was in Mobile he is not much more than Orr or Peek. The guy is talented, but anyone who has to gain 15 to 20lbs of extra muscle and strength tends to slow down, ask almost any strength coach and he will tell you it slows you down some. The point of Mario is why not take the best DE in the draft rather than his smaller counterpart. Second, I mean Jonathan Joseph the corner not Davin. Joseph may be a little raw, but Blackmon does not even know his position. Third, Mangold is a much better pick than a TE in the second round. The kid is nasty and with the signing of Bentley puts us in a better position with Weigert and McKinney as far as restructuring goes. Fourth, I said you did nice work and the needs aspect of that is you did not get a LB since Andersen and Polk may not be back and Babin and Peek would move to DE. You also took a FB that is not needed, ask a scout and he will tell you we have one of the better FBs in the AFC. With all the FBs that dont get drafted makes no sense to waste a 5th rounder on one. Once again I will say overall good work and nice thought, but still to many holes for my taste. Engineer a mock that helps us win in a more immediate fashion.

Both of you are guessing where this guy will go, but neither know exactly for sure. Can we just agree that he will go late first, early 2nd?

Here is my linebacker rankings. And Howard is NOT #8.

1. A.J. Hawk
2. Chad Greenway
3. DeMeco Ryans
4. Ernie Sims
5. Thomas Howard
6. Bobby Carpenter
7. D'Qwell Jackson
8. Abdul Hodge
9. Spencer Havner
10. Anthony Schlegel

I still would prefer Eric Winston to D'Brick, but ok. I also don't like Marcedes at #33, for one I think he will be gone in the end of the 1st round, plus I still don't think TE is that big of a need that we use the #33 pick on one when decent ones will be available in the 3rd. I'd prefer to get Nick Mangold here to play C or G. I'm not sure I like Blackmon all that much, I think we can find a better CB here. I don't see why we'd draft a FB, Norris is a good blocker. He's not much of a running FB, but you can easily find a big RB in free agency or an undrafted FA that can run the ball, or put Wells at FB some as more of a running threat, but I definitely don't like drafting one when we already have a decent one, especially using the top pick in the 4th round on him. Greg Threat in the 6th would be a nice addition for some DB depth, I don't know if he'll fall that far but he could, and if Drew Olson is available in the 7th that would be a nice addition as well, or maybe look for Reggie McNeal in there somewhere and try him out at both WR (could end up being similar to Randle El) and QB to see what position he is best at, and if nothing else he could be a capable backup at both spots.

Moving on to your proposed starters, Gary Walker should not be a 4-3 DE, Babin and Peek could move down (Peek would have to gain some weight), and I'm not sure I want Manny being my best pass-rusher, he should be a decent DE if he can gain 20 lbs. without losing any athleticism, but I don't know how great of a passrusher he'll end up being. Wong and Greenwood will be locked in at starting LBs, and Orr can battle it out with whoever else we bring in and Peek could play there some if he's not a full-time DE. Your DBs look ok other than I'd prefer a different draft pick than Blackmon, it would be awesome if someone like DeMario Minter fell to the 3rd like I've seen in a couple mocks, but I don't see him going that far. Your offensive skill players aren't bad at all other than drafting Vickers. I don't like your OLine, I know Wade has a huge contract but he's terrible at pass blocking and not that great at run blocking. Pitts plays better at OT and that's his natural position (he played OT all thru college and half his pro career, I don't know why some people think he's a natural OG, plus he plays better at OT), so I would put Pitts at RT. Wiegert and Davin Joseph would be a nice G tandem together, and we can put Mangold in there as well and have the three of them duke it out for the two OG spots next season and have Mangold and Joseph in 2007 after Wiegert's contract is up. Hodgdon at C would be ok, but I'm still not sure about his run blocking. If we can get Bentley that would be great, otherwise if we draft Mangold he could play either C or G for us.

I like your picks but i would work a trade with NO,so we could pick up Bentley,to go along with D'Brick.
