So all I'm hearing these days is that VY is slipping in the draft. Some people have him going at around 6 or 7. And I'm thinking, can we have our cake and eat it, too?
A trade down to 4 might just do it. Leinart goes at 1 to the Jets. Cutler at 2 to N.O. Bush at 3 to the Titans. And VY to us at 4. And we have the Jets' high 2nd and maybe another 1st next year?
What's not to like? If VY is not there at 4 we take Brick. Or Cutler. Or Leinart. Or Bush. If all four of these players are premium, and if winners can be built a variety of different ways, why not step back and pick up another excellent pick and take the spoils in this very good top of draft?
And imagine if we did this AND managed to trade Carr for a low 1st rounder and maybe a 3rd? Then you take the leftover QB (Cutler or Young) and you've got two more picks to play with. Now you're looking at what, 7 picks in the first 75? Maybe it's too good to be true?
