Strengths:
Has great size with a solid frame...Displays outstanding balance...A strong and powerful runner who will deliver a blow and fall forward...Has good hands and can help out in the passing game...A reliable blocker...Durable and the type who gets stronger as the game goes on...Was very productive throughout his career.

Weaknesses:
Lacks elite timed speed and quickness...Won't break off many long runs...Not very shifty and won't make people miss...Vision is somewhat questionable and he will misread some blocks...Will struggle to get outside and turn the corner in the NFL.

Notes:
A classic North / South guy who does everything well but nothing great...Saved the best for last and had his best season as a senior...Is not very flashy but he gets the job done and could develop into an adequate starter at the next level.

I like this guy a lot......i think if he is there in the 3rd we need to take him....Not realy flashy but will get the job done. Plus we need a rb....we should get rid of lundy... i like taylor more.....so we have hun, dayne, taylor....thats a nice backfield.
 
You cant sya that it's not a championship backfield because the colts had addai and rhodes....thats not elite either....the bears had the better backfield and they lost....so you cant say that....

Sure I can say that. I just did.

But really, you are comparing a Houston Texan team to the Indianapolis Colts. We have no strong point on offense that a defense has to account for. People don't just load up the box on the Colts. Indy can get away with that kind of backfield.

The Bears may not have won the Championship but they did go to the Championship, thus making them a Championship team. They did that with a great backfield and a very subpar QB, who btw was able to make some deep ball throws during the season to win games.
 
...you won't win andre. Somehow some posters expect us to somehow have pro bowl player at EVERY position and still be cap realistic much less cap friendly. See Washington's philosophy and what they have won lately.

If Hunt's available in the third i wouldn't be opposed to the pick. I'd rather see Dlinemen after going OL with Brown and Kalil in the first and second.

Tony Hunt is one of the best 5 or 6 backs in this draft. he should have a solid NFL career, maybe not along the lines of Emmitt Smith but he has heart, runs tough through the tackles with power/lower body leg drive & is a leader.

that being said I would rather take a look at Kenny Irons with the 2nd pick. the reason why is he has the speed to get past the edge, excellent receiving skills as well an outstanding backfield blocker to pick up late blitzes on the QB.

I didn't say I didn't like the idea. I said it is a nice backfield but just not a championship one.

I just feel that we need to try and go for a better play maker in the draft. Now if for whatever reason we don't go RB in the 1st or 2nd, a 3rd RB is a nice fit and Tony Hunt did play well to validate us taking him there.

I just feel that we probably and will get the same production as last year.
 
Why do we need another slow power back? I thought that was Dayne's role? IMO if AP is not there @ 8 no back will be selected in 1st round.

And niehter is Adrian Petterson behind our current tallent on the o-line. I like the second teired backs. O-line , running back ? the only question is which draft we fix each one.

I don't think we must reach on the RB in the first round to come away with a great prospect. I like Hunt. I'd rather spend the two on a corner or the ZBS center. But that's just me. I think our major holes are at OLT and corner. Everything else, the holes in the rooster, can be filled with day two prospects and free agents. But they gotta have a solution at OLT and CB if we're going to be competitive next season.

Not sure I follow on AP not being able to get it done behind our Oline as the line has yielded a 1,000 rusher a couple of times with limited talent at RB, no passing game and continually playing behind in each game.

Outside of that I am with you every step away in your post.

I disagree on AP. His cred is he has speed to get past LOS and the power to break a tackle despite our blocking. For the Texans he has ability to be a franchise back. Few teams with the caliber of our current roster backs would turn down a franchise RB. Whether he is avail @ 8 will be seen during round one pick 2-7.
 
Just for fun, show me your projections for all day ? I don't think he'll have three hundred carries. So which line our we talking about. The one we started the season with or the one we ended the season with ? Or the several variations in between ? I mean you guys seem to be saying we're going to hit on another second teired o-line guy just like we did last draft. It could happen. What I'm seeing in this class is a lot of garuds. You're also projecting that with DC out of the way...whoever it is will be able to handle the assult much better than DC did. Because the play action pass play will be more effective ? and just why would that be ? Who did you bring in to shore up OLT to allow the PAP to work ? With "Salaam " manning OLT ? Really ? just like to see some of you all day guys back your pick with some projections... You lost me there big guy by assumming things you don't know for sure are a fact. You're man love has left a blind spot on your sight. Projecting numbers from what you saw last year(s) out of these guys at the end of the season for the last two games or from past lines under different co-ordinators, is just foolish in my book. You caught one team with severe injuries at key positons and another team who had mailed it in. If that gives you comfort for this teams chances in '07 with our current rooster, someone is indeed being foolish here.
Even with all-day. You see paly offs. I see david carr II. He ain't going any where if they can't block the run or pass and they've got nine in the box.

40 yard dash time is not an accurate gauge of how well a prospect might do in the NFL. It is a waste of time to include it at the combine and scouts/GMs should not use it in determining whether or not to draft a player (in this case, a RB). Just one example, Terrell Davis ran a 4.65, I seem to remember him having a 'pretty good' career. I wouldn't mind seeing a one-two punch of Chris Taylor and a rookie RB. Oh yeah, Ron Dayne too....i guess.

I am with you on that. I like Kenny Irons as well. It also seems like he may slip a little bit, because he is not one of the elites. I think the seventh pick in the second is too early for him (I am pretty sure we're the seventh in the second?) but if we're able to trade Carr for a late second or early third, I would love to nab him there.
