Todd Wade

I saw something in yesterday's game and I'm wondering if anyone else noticed. I'm not sure if it would have been visible on TV. It was the second half, I believe in the 3rd quarter, and Carr got sacked by the left DE for Tennessee. He basically blew past Todd Wade and was on Carr before he had much of a chance. Well even before Carr is on his feet, Wade is gesturing with his right arm in a throwing motion as if to say "THROW THE BALL"!

Did anyone else see this? Maybe he meant something else.... but if he truly meant for Carr to get rid of the ball quicker .... there was no way he could have because he barely had his feet set and wham .....

I was at the game but didn't see that. Frustration was visible. So, I don't doubt that it happened. Todd Wade has been absolutely embarrassingly bad the past two weeks. I'm going to really start defending Carr because this situation just isn't his fault. The OLine is an absolute embarrassment.

Todd Wade was horrible in pass blocking today. I honestly bought into the company rant the offensive line was better and it wasn't all their fault. They are not any better and it is their fault. I wanted to honestly watch Carr and evaluate his performance. I couldn't. He cannot throw to an intermediate route because he truly has no time, let alone a long ball. Yes I noticed Wade's arm gesture to throw the ball. It was rediculous. Wade was bullrushed from the beginning and the defender was in the backfield immediately.

Wade was not gesturing for Carr to throw the ball, he was lobbying the refs for a penalty, either off-sides or defensive holding.

hmmmm offsides .... I might buy that ..... but defensive holding? he can barely pass block much less pass block AND watch for defensive holding ...

As in the DT held him from moving out on the DE. I am not saying that was what happened but as soon as the whistled sounded he was walking toward the ref motioning and saying something--he was obviously looking for a penalty of some sort. The main point is it had nothing to do with Carr.

Maybe if he started blocking a little bit, he wouldn't have to gesture that Carr needs to throw the ball. He is a joke. I say our first five picks should be the o-line of MINN, because they run the ball great.

We run the ball pretty good as well. Are you miffed at the OLine in total or the pass blocking of the OLine?

No, it was throw the flag to the ref.

I think that unless you've heard something, like maybe a quote from someone, explaining it then we'll agree to disagree ... there was nothing he could have remotely been complaining about besides maybe the end jumping the count (which I didn't see) ... as for the tackle holding him, like on a stunt or a twist, hmmm no ... there wasn't time .....

I don't need to hear from anyone when I could see Wade looking at and speaking to a ref as he made the gesture. But hey, if you need to perceive that the team is turning on Carr go ahead and make this into something it wasn't. I mean jeez, common sense tells you he wasn't gesturing to Carr. On that play Carr was on the ground within half a second of the snap--there was never any chance to throw the ball. On the other hand there were plenty of plays where there was time to throw and Carr did not--that's where you would see the OL gesturing at Carr--that and on a play where the guy gesturing didn't get beat like his feet were in cement.

ahhhh ok ...... now I get the full picture .... thanks

I guess Jammal Brown and Alex Barron couldn't play for us, right? I mean, I have nothing against Travis Johnson, but we passed on both Brown and Barron, both of whom are starting for their respective teams. When are the Texans going to learn that the absolute most important thing they must do is get some people in here to protect David Carr!

The 2006 Draft should be devoted almost exclusivly to the O-line, starting with Fergusen from Virginia in the first round. In fact, I for one am going to be mad if the Texans do use at least 3 picks on O-lineman!

Up until this point, and hopefully this will change this week, it wouldn't matter if these guys were on our team or not. They wouldn't get to play.

The Texans have Wand on the bench, and last year he played better then either Riley or Wade are this year. He wasn't even suited up this week. He is not hurt. Our line has played horribly all year, and the coaches don't even have their back-up tackle on the active roster for the game. They are so stubborn that they know they aren't going to swap out one of their tackles, even before the game has started.

Unless something changes, Wade will continue to play because he received a $10M bonus when he signed on. Riley was hand picked to receive the LT spot as a gift.

Not playing these guys would constitute a mistake, and our coaches would rather look foolish then fallible.

It's called hubris.

What's that about if he's not injured ? Wand is still listed as #2 on the DC at LT. On the subject of not drafting Barron or Brown, I'd say that is now one more personnel decision we can second guess Cass & Company on given how horrible our OL tackle performances has been this year. Yea we needed help
in the D line since the starters except for R.Smith are getting pretty long in the tooth. But there is nothing as pressing as our OL needs, which many of
knew all along even if the Texans organization didn't. According to the Rams and Saints DCs, those guys are starting as their teams RTs.

Sad but true - he was just inactive, not hurt. I think the coaches' clue bags are empty.
