I really thought about Hopkins and J.Williams in the TT Mock .... but I have another plan that I think gives them better prospects at both positions.

Thanks for posting that ... insider info.

That would be a great start to a draft.

IF the draft fell like this Hopkins and J. Williams would be an excellent start to the draft. Both would fit this teams needs very well.

Corrosion, I thought your choice of Short in the current mock was an outstanding choice as well. Fixing NT has so many positive effects on our defense.

I thnik its a clusterfluck right now .... at both the WR and DT spots. Some of these guys are going to fall , others are going to rise between now and draft day.

Short just fits the profile of a Wade Phillips NT better than the others - he's able to get upfield and hold the point , not one or the other.

As for WR , I think at least two who havent been picked yet will go before I pick again when the bullets are live.

I know we need a good NT, and Jesse Williams could be that, but is a NT worth taking in the 2nd with the NFL becoming a passing league?

This is why taking Short in the first is worth it. He has pass rush ability and is versitile enough to play end too.

Yes. Even if the Texans takes a NT that's considered a run stuffer like Jesse Williams, he still helps in the passing game by taking up blocks. A quality NT will take up 2 linemen/blockers that will free up others like Watt and Smith to do their thing, and when that NT gets single blocking he can collapse the pocket from the middle and pressure the QB up the middle. A good NT doesn't have to be a quick penetrating type to have an effect on the passing game. Kawann Short does both jobs well, penetrating and handling double teams, thus the reason he's worthy of a 1st round pick.

Brandon Williams in third (rated 97)that can penetrate and stop run is worth me gambling until #89. This allows us to address another position in top two rounds and maybe even better if we trade out of #27.

OT with the first pick ? Like they say, the game is won (or lost) on the los. So don't be that surprised if they go OT (or DLine), with the top pick.

You wouldn't in a couple of years. Watson will be a beast in a couple of years.

There's a decent chance of that. I don't hate the talent...I hate that allocation of talent. If the season started today who'd be our starting nose tackle? If the season started today who'd be our starting wrs? I don't like that direction...or selecting a te in the first...which I know your a fan of. It's all subjective.

Well there is always still FA. I know we don't have much money left but I believe there will be some solid vets available at the minimum. Mainly at the DT position. And we still have 4 quality picks left after our first. WR is deep so shouldnt be a problem finding talent later.
