TO - "I don't really have to play for the Eagles"

I can see Owens going to Carolina, Seattle, or Minnesota. Carolina could use a big time reciever to help Delhomme anchor down the passing game and lead that team into the playoffs, espcially after the Muhsin Mohammed loss. Seattle could net Owens to create a hectic Offensive Trio of Hasselbeck,Alexander, and Owens, to finally help the team get over its playoff win hump. Minnesota could use Owens to help fill the void left by Randy Moss. This will be an important year in Minnesota and having Owens would sure make it easier.

He isn't just a headache...he's a migraine.

I think Philly's top guys have said if he doesn't want to honor the contract he has he can just sit out because he's not going anywhere.

Thursday on Comcast SportsNet, Terrell Owens declared that he is prepared to leave the Eagles.

Owens said, ''They[Eagles] know how business is conducted. I’ve told them what I’m doing is for my family. If they can’t understand that – and if they feel like I’m a no-nonsense guy – he[team president Joe Banner] wants to talk about Drew and I – if we’re problems, then I feel like we can be adults about it. Trade me. Release me, and we can part ways like adults.'' Owens also said he could see himself in Atlanta, although Falcons owner Arthur Blank previously said his organization doesn't need those type of ''distractions''.

You know, honestly I believe that the NFL will be about 13% more enjoyable when this clown is retired and we're no longer being subjected to stories about his latest antics.

There just aren't that many players in the league right now that I completely hate. He's one of them.

“It doesn’t bother me,” he said. “When it all boils down to it, I’m doing what’s best for my family. Not to stir anything up, but I don’t really have to play for the Eagles to be honest. I can go play with any other team and still be productive.

Apparently he's clueless to the definition of "contract".

No, Terrell, you can't be productive with any other team because you're under contract with the Eagles. If you continue to hold-out, you will continue to be fined and face the possibility of having to return money from your signing bonus.

“I think we’re both going to be smart about the situation,”

Um, yeah. Everybody is recognizing you for your brilliance in this matter, Terrell.

And if they try to fine him, then he'll report but has told Andy Reid that if he has to come to camp, then it won't be a good situation (I'm assuming he means he'll do his best to make it a bad situation). And all I can think about is, what do the other Eagles players think about this? This team was 3 points from winning the Super Bowl a few months ago and now they've got this? Do they not have a single leader on that team that's willing to pop Owens in the mouth if/when he shows up?

I hope the Eagles play this really tough. Just let him rot. Keep him on the roster but enforce all the penalty provisions so you really don't have to pay him anything and just lose the roster spot. Then he will understand he can't play for anyone else until he is 39 yrs old unless the Eagles let hiim.

Amen. Couldn't have said it better...

If they keep him, don't play him, he will have limelight withdrawll and probably go bizerk and go postal or something. It would serve him right if they just let him rot the rest of his career.

Rumor Mill.

The Lions could trade one of thier young WR's

And as the one person on the planet that likes Owens. I would love it.
Take your pick Philly, Chuck or Mike, Roy isn't for sale though.

(Mooch and Owens like each other despite what you might think)

But Jeff and Owens would make zero sense :pigfly:

Owens: 'I'll be there but I won't be happy'
ESPN.com news services

Terrell Owens apparently will be at Eagles camp after all.

A day after hinting that he would agree to a trade because of a contract dispute, Owens told the Philadelphia Inquirer he would report to training camp on Aug. 1 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

The controversial wide receiver told the newspaper he remains unhappy with his seven-year, $49 million contract and that he wouldn't mind being traded.

"I'll be there," Owens told the Inquirer on Friday. "I mean, the bottom line is that I still believe I deserve a new contract. I still believe I deserve more than what they've given me. But I'm not stupid. I'm not about to miss training camp, get fined every day and give them even more reasons to keep from paying me.

"I'll be there but I won't be happy, I can tell you that much. Take from that whatever you want," he said.

Unlikely at best. Owens is the one guy I want to see out of the league. Maybe the only guy I want to see out of the league. "most hated" is a title he's easily earned in my book. You can't be obnoxious that long and not make me wish you'd go away.

If the Texans traded for T.O. I'd be hard pressed to watch them and I mean that. He's like the poster child for locker room cancer.

I heard a rumor that somebody in the Raiders organization said something about having T.O. playing alongside Randy Moss- even though it seems like it would be tough to work it out because of the money situation, that's a scary thought

If it was up to me, all base salaries would be fixed by position and experience. What I mean is that a rookie WR will have the same base salary as all other rookie WR's, and a 2nd year WR will have the same base salary as all other 2nd year WR's, and so on... These players will have different signing bonuses related to where they are taken in the draft, but the base salaries will be the same as every other player at their position with the same amount of experience. Where players like TO, Moss, and other top players make their real money is in performance based bonuses. This is also where the agents make their money. The agents will try to work the contracts to make these bonuses as easy to reach as possible.

To me, this would make contract holdouts a thing of the past.

Now to the situation as it stands with Owens and Walker...I believe Walker is still working on his rookie contract, and I can understand why he would want to rework his contract, although I believe he is going about it the wrong way. TO, on the other hand, deserves to be taken out behind the shed and beaten. If I was with the Eagles, I would not give TO a new contract and I would not trade him. If he tries to holdout, I would hit him with the max fine possible for every day he misses. I would fine him for any derisive statements that he makes towards and about the team and/or it's players. If he does show up and plays, but tries to play poorly to force a trade, or acts like Keyshawn Johnson did in Tampa Bay, I would do to him exactly what Gruden did to Keyshawn, and suspend him the rest of the year. I would not trade him to another team and I would not cut him, and when the next season rolls around, I would do the same thing.

Exactly what I would do. Until these teams stop caving in, dolts like TO & Rosenhouse will keep this up.

-- Eagles to go Keyshawn on T.O.? --
Tue Jul 26, 2005 --from FFMastermind.com

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports the situation between the Philadelphia Eagles and WR Terrell Owens could escalate to the Keyshawn Johnson-Tampa Bay Buccaneers level. The Bucs deactivated Johnson in November 2003 for the remainder of that season for his behavior on the field and during team functions.

And boom. I think he keeps forgetting the Eagles have the edge in this situation. He needs to suck it up, and get to camp.

I'm with the majority here. TO signed a contract in good faith. I believe he is the 3rd highest paid WR in the league behind Moss and Harrison. The whole "got to take care of my family" crybaby act is an insult to every fan of the NFL who isn't making several million a year. Bill Gates step forward, everyone else, stay back....because you should be insulted. He is a total fool. The funny thing is that everyone warned the Eagles this would happen, but they just couldn't help themselves. Heck The 49ers couldn't wait to dump his sorry azz. They were practically counting the minutes until they could trade him. I hope the Eagles continue the hard line stance. Play for your contract, or go drive a beer truck like the average fan. Then try to tell me about taking care of your family. What a joke. Pathetic.

Personally im sick of even hearing his name. I would love nothing more than to watch him ride the bench all season :)
