Three more mocks, all saying Barron

The Lions are going with '04 draft choice Kelly Butler at RT. Butler was a 1st day rated player before getting involved in 2 seperate incidents off campus a couple of weeks prior to the draft. The Lions picked up Butler in the 6th, and thus far has kept his nose clean.

Ah, ok...I wasn't aware that that was their plan...They'll probably either take Merriman or Spears then...

There is no way that we take Alex Barron with the 13th pick. I think we will draft bpa defense. The only way we would go offense is if someone like Benson, Williams, or Edwards fell to us which isn't going to happen. I think it will be Carlos Rodgers, Antrel Rolle, Shawne Merriman, or Marcus Spears in no particular order and by who is still there at 13 of the 4.

I forgot about Pollack. He is definately a possibility.

I'm not saying "there is no way" but I don't believe IMHO he will be a significant upgrade
short term, over what we have now. I won't be exactly thrilled at exposing Carr to another learning curve. And I don't care how quick his feet are, Freeny is gonna eat his lunch the first few games.

I like Pollack, I really really do. He was an awesome college player. I was wrong about Suggs and I could be wrong about him as well. I just don't see the dip and rip from this guy. Be a great guy to have on the team though. I believe the tallent on the next level will offset his feet. I could be wrong.

I could live with Spears or one of the nice DBs, Never can have too many quality DBs in our division.

I think Williamson is smoke, for a trade down. Just not enough targets there for thirteen money. McClain is a good soldier and a fan. He shouldn't be. But he loves this team as much as we do. JMHO.

But us taking Barron is a moot issue if he's not there, and since he's recognized as the best offensive tackle in what many say is not a strong draft, its reasonable to think he'd be gone. Gallery was #2 overall last year in what was thought to be a strong draft.
I really question why some think Barron dosen't have the upside that Gallery does: Here's some comments about Gallery last year from a Packer website:

Gallery's workout numbers don't stack up well against Barrons 4.8 40s & 38 inch vertfical jump - clearly Barron is the better athlete.
Assuming Barron doesn't have any issues related to a shoulder injury that
concerned some, he may be atleast the prospect Gallery was because
he (Gallery) may well be someone who was way overrated, especially given
the way that he struggled to find a starting position that would allow him
some minutes on the field last year in Oakland.

The difference for me anyway, you watch the two guys on film, Gallery destroyed people, good people, in the running game. Know what i mean by destroyed ? Barron does not. Barron is going to have his learning curve also.
I'm not dead set against taking the guy. JMHO you're closer to Hopkins of the Titans than you are to Gallery, or Pace or Walter Jones, ect, ect, with the Barron pick..And Mcnair did take a beating with sarting out with Hopkins early in his career. I just don't know how many more of those learning seasons Carr has left in the tank. Inspite of last year, Gallery will be an all pro in the near future. Be interesting to see if Barron gets close. Still say the Titans pick Barron . Be a Moot point in April.
