This One Game....

I don't know about anyone else, but it seems this one game has the ability to be a deciding factor, not only for this season, but also for the future. I firmly do not believe, no matter what cliche'sare given on the radio by players, coaches, and radio host, that this team thinks they can turn around this season. I think that after this game, some players may start shutting it down, keeping themselves healthy and worrying about potential bonus numbers. Let's face it, what team has come from 0-3 and made it to the playoffs? What team really desires to play their hardest when they feel they will not make the playoffs? This has been such a disappointment, that I hope we don't have those type of players, but THIS ONE GAme will show us. Sorry for the lack of faith, as many out there know I am a diehard NATIONAL TEXAN FAN, but this does not seem to be going in the right direction. I thought with the additions of playmakers, trading for high potential draft selections, and free agent signings, we would at least look stronger than what we have shown in the first two games. I have seen nothing but the same attitude as the first two seasons. Where is the fire? Who is our Ray Lewis on the defensive side of the ball. Where is the sideline confrontations. These guys are either so afraid of Capers, or don't hve any emotion! I know Mr. McNair runs a class organization and wants players of the same mold, but football is a game of emotion, and maybe we need a hothead in the locker room, to stir some things up!!! Unless we see some serious changes in coaching philosophy, emotion, and something we, as fans, can get excited about, it's going to be a long year! :soapbox:

Correct me if I am wrong>Didn't the chargers have an 0-4 start one year and go to the playoffs,it seem i heard that on the radio.

I'm not panicking yet, and I think this game is no more crucial than any other. I came into the season believing we had a shot to beat any team we line up against, and I still feel exactly the same. Something funny I noticed, and no I don't have any statistics to show you, but it seems like teams are beating us now the same way we've been beating them the past two seasons - We're winning all of the statistical categories (besides turn overs of course) that normally equal a win, ie. T.O.P., total offense, total defense, etc but somehow we end up on the short end of the stick at the end. It reminds me of alot of the W's from our first two seasons where we'd get dominated in the stats but still manage to eek out the win. We're definitely a better team this season than we've ever been, IMO, we just have to cut down on the mistakes, play our game, and the rest will come by itself.

The Oilers at one time started off 1-4 before ending the regular season at 12-4. This is the NFL and things can happen. Keept the faith. This team is going places. This week starts it all.

I don't think this one game has much impact on the season. I don't really think this one and the two before it will have much impact on the season. We were looking at a best possible season of something like 8-8 to 10-6 and while we're now looking at the low end of that probably I still think that a .500 record is possible IF the Texans improve over the course of the year. If we lose this game then we're 3-0 and while I don't think 13-3 is a realistic expectation (mathematically possible I guess) I don't think 8-8 is out of the question.

If any of yall thought we'd be super bowl champs this year, much less playoff bound, you are mightly crazy. we're in a tough division and we dont always play smart.

I cant wait for tommorow. If they win, great, it'll be easier to cheer loud next week..if they lose, then the odds were against us to begin with and no big deal, just turn it around next week

So you've given up cause they might not make the playoffs in there 3rd yr? I dont remember the playoffs even required in year 3. It would be nice of course, and it should be the players goal, but is it truly realistic given the talent in our division and the fact they only have 2 full seasons under there belt? I for one still thank my lucky stars we even have an NFL team much less cry like a little girl cause ther'e 0-2. GO TEXANS ! KICK KC BUTT !!

I seem to recall that. I think they ended at 11-5 that year.

Anything can happen in this league. I don't care if it's never been done or if it's been done a thousand times. On any given sunday I believe our Texans could beat the Patriots or lose to, well, the chargers. It seems like for every game so far I've seen a post insinuating a bad omen for the season if we lose. The fact of the matter is, we're going to lose some games. No one game is weighted more than the others. This early in the season I don't think our players are going to give any less effort based on the previous two games. Take it one game at a time guys.

I believe that is true, this is a 16 week season and there is no need to panic we are not the only 0-2 team in the league.

Losing on the road in Arrowhead is something many, many teams do. Good ones AND bad ones. I won't be shocked or crushed if it happens. If we lose at home next week,I'll start to get seriously nervous.

Doesn't change the fact that I'm a die-hard rootin' for them through it all. :twocents:

The season is still early, but some games are bigger than others and this is one of those games, especially if we win. Think about it, our guys are going into a very hostlile place, possilbly the hardest place to win on the road. If some how we win this game it will be huge to the confidence of our players and team.If we win this game I think we have a good chance of being 2-2, If we lose I think we will be 0-4.

Wasn't that the year of the Buffalo debacle?

No, actually that was the years of BRyan/KGillbride & our ultimate demise vs KC in the 1st round of the playoffs @ the dome. :bag:
Buff was the year earlier.
