The trade down... (for better or for worse?)

Of course there was talk about trading down but would we really get what we need? The reason why I question trading down is because every year just before the season starts we have 101 players to evaluate in pre-season and then we cut half and send a handfull to the practice squad. So with all of the players available to for potential position fillers say 3-5 in each slot from WR-CB-OL etc. Established players makes sense but the rookie talk raises an eyebrow. Is it worth doing it that way to fill or replace a position?

The cuts generally aren't 1st-4th round players which is what you gain by trading down in the 1st round. Sure we bring on a whole host of undrafted free agents each year - but most of them aren't really expected to make it, they're just there on the offchance that someone does something special.

Ok got it. I'm was just thinking about the negative of what happens if they don't do what they are supposed to do once they get here.
