2003: The coaching staff, as well as most of the fans in attendance, took notice of Mikes ability to catch the ball during fall camp, prompting head coach Mike Riley to award Hass a scholarship...he was originally listed behind James Newson at split end, but as the camp progressed it became obvious he needed to be on the field...he started the first game of the season (Sacramento State) at split end, in place of the injured Newson, and responded with 129 yards and one touchdown on six receptions...Newson returned the following week, which enabled Hass to move to flanker, where he started 11 games...he concluded the season with 1,013 yards, then the third-highest (now fourth) total for a single season in the programs history...his 77.9 yards per game average ranked ninth in the Pac-10...he and Newson became the first 1,000-yard plus duo in OSU history...he co-led the receiving corps with seven touchdowns (Newson)...he had four games of in excess of 100 yards receiving, including a 225-yard, two touchdown performance at home against Stanford...the 225 yards then represented the second-highest total in the history of the program...he later had 208, then tied for the fourth-most (now fifth) at OSU, against eventual co-national champion USC...over the final six games of the season he accounted for 717 yards and five touchdowns...one of his juggling snags against Washington State made the ESPN Plays of the Day list...he had a 90-yard reception on the second play of the USC game which gave OSU the ball at the Trojan 1.
2002: Mike played in 12 of 13 games as a redshirt freshman, mostly on special teams...he began his climb on the depth chart in spring drills prior to the 2002 season, where he started fifth at split end...he would move to fourth by the end of the drills.

If he is available, the texans should definitely take a look at him. I don't think you would have to use a first rounder on him either. but i might be wrong, i don't pay attention to stuff like that.
another guy is #4 a lb on az st, johnson. he looked pretty good as well. he had a sack and a pick. he made big plays and that's what this defense needs, a playmaker. peek and dunta can make only so many. the rest have to make some; payne, smith, johnson, g walk, babin - look in this picture -

the texans need a change of pace qb, someone who can come in and mix in the run with the pass all by himself. somebody who could come in here and just give the defense a different look if Carr couldn't get things jump started. Carr is our quaterback right now... Someone through free agency, maybe like S. Wallace from Seattle. Or someone you could draft and develop maybe for a year under carr and then release carr and bring him in permanately. Someone like...

If either one of them are available when the Texans pick they should pick them. Whoever wins the game is who the Texans should pick. They're both just that good. It's almost like Vick or Manning, who do you want? They are two of the most valuable players to their team in the league.
