I'm Kevin, one of the cohosts on the show, and nobody is paying for anything (though TWB listeners get 10% off any order at Oui Desserts at 3411 Kirby). That's part of the beauty of podcasting. There's exactly 0 money changing hands. And what is "The Comical," and why do you ask?

Formerly known as the Houston Chronicle... at one time a reliable newspaper source of information. Actually had a decent sports journalist covering pro football before he became caught up in the glamour of the movie scene and his own press clippings

The entire print media industry is suffering (trust me, I know - I work for a much smaller paper, even), but I don't think McClain has anything to do with that. Are you telling me you wouldn't be exactly as into yourself as you claim he is into himself if you were in a similar position? I would. And I don't think he's unreliable, whether or not he has an ego - we wouldn't have asked him onto the show if we thought he was a liar or a fool.

Let's just say that on this board we have come to acknowledge that if McClain has asserted something will or will not happen, we know the opposite will most likely occur....

He's not "in" with the Texans as he was with the Oilers when he made his name, now he guesses as much as you or I, with comparable accuracy

Well, start the clock, then. He says Clowney's not getting traded, most likely, and I'm inclined to agree. If you're right, though, and he does get traded, I'll be happy to have you on the show to tell you what an idiot McClain and I are. :p

No, I don't think Clowney will be traded either. That must have been a fluff rumor thrown out to see if it stuck to anything

Most likely is not equal to always... but is probable. Even McClain usually won't fall for a sucker bet

I think it was actually Nick Wright and John Lopez who first brought up that possibility, based on god knows what, and I certainly consider them less reliable sources than McClain. The interview is well-worth listening to - he tells an amusing story about meeting Dave Campbell as a kid in Waco that I'd never heard before. Like him or not, he's a fun guy to listen to (imo).

So what he says Clowney's not getting traded? No one has made a reasonable suggestion that Clowney is getting traded to make a worthwhile disagreement with. I'd like to hear him knock it out of the park next telling us that DeAndre Hopkins isn't getting traded either or that the team isn't considering moving to North Korea.

The Houston Chronicle still is reliable. Especially on-line but you have to digitally subscribe for most of the well written exclusive articles. John McClain is the best in the business at what he does. I enjoy his work and he's been doing a great job for as long as I've been alive.

I've never understood all the criticism he receives. He goes out of his way, even when he's officially not working or being paid for it, to give us more Houston Texans talk and I appreciate that. This team rarely gets enough coverage on a national stage and it sucks always being in a "losing position" year after year because we can't seem to land a franchise quarterback. And by losing position, I simply mean "no realistic chance to ever win a Super Bowl here in Houston."

I very very strongly disagree with this opinion of yours. In the '80's yeah McClain was good... since covering the Texans not so much. I get much more info here than from all of the tweets, blogs, articles and movies from McClain. I really don't understand how anyone that followed football even only on the internet could claim that McClain was the best

McClain's insider info for the Texans died when Casserly left. Since then he's been guessing. He may have better contacts in TN now where I believe he still does a radio show.

He did and he does... he has more insight with what's happening in Tennessee than he does Houston

According to his Chronical bio, "He does 17 weekly sports talk shows in Houston, Nashville, Knoxville, San Antonio, St. Louis, Austin, Waco, Corpus Christi and NBC nationally."

I'm fairly certain in an ambiguous sort of way that the Texans FO uses McClain in a disinformation campaign that may or may not be effective.

Nick Wright, by his own admission, is not a credible journalist, or even any sort of reliable news source. He bills himself as a radio personality who apparently loves to hear himself talk about utter bullshit. That he's a complete asshat may be a purely subjective opinion, but with certainty, he lacks any sort of credibility as a sports journalist. I'm sure he sees himself as a sports version of a little shock jock, a sports oriented Howard Stern wannabe.

McClain is doing himself and his career a severe disservice by pandering to complete nonsense perpetuated by a radio clown. Taking a far fetched and illogical "rumor" - which is not even a rumor but more of stupid unsubstantiated gossip - and then acting like an expert on said nonsense lacks any sort of professional standards and makes many of us question his overall credibility.

His war stories are fantastic and he seems like a nice guy. But insider information, player talent evaluations, and football strategy are areas that he should try to avoid. A man should know his limitations in life.

I don't think anyone can be a COMPLETE asshat....except maybe Josh Innes.

I read/listen to most sources as I can always disconnect quickly if I perceive nothing valuable. Sort of like I read most posts here. Some have more significance than others.

49ers sign WR Eric Rogers to $1.19 million maximum value deal............The deal includes base salaries of $450,000 and $540,000, including $200,000 in bonuses, with $100,000 of his first-year salary fully guaranteed.

Would have been a very conservative investment for the Texans for a potentially very productive player
