The Aggies

WWJD

Hall of Fame
What a huge improvement the Aggies are showing on a weekly basis. I remember after the first game against Utah (?) there were some glum predictions about just how well they were going to do this year.

It appears that the team has finally responded and is playing some really good football now.

I'm not an Aggie but just thought I'd compliment them on a huge win against a very good Oklahoma State team.

Ya, they greatly improved. I went to the A&M vs. K-State game and watching them improve right infornt of me was great. They have really stepped up and a couple that are showing up are Reggie McNeal, T-Murph, Byron Jones and Jackson Apple. #16 in BCS and improving. At worst they are a 7-4 team but they could be a 9-2 team.

Not an Aggie either, but enjoy watching them. I'll probably get roasted for this, but I think McNeal is better and has more potential than vince young.

I'm a big Texas fan and I agree with you. McNeal has really matured and Coach Fran seems to have really helped his development, can't say that for Vince or his coaches.

I heard a caller on 610 a few days ago say that Vince actually was a better passer in high school and his college coaching has actually hindered him.

I'm beginning to think that is true.

The main thing that has helped the Aggies this season is the departure of Dustin Long. Most Aggie fans would agree that Long is a very good QB (as he continues to prove at Sam Houston) But last season, he and Reggie McNeil alternated too often in my opinion.

This disrupts team chemistry and prevents the other 10 guys on offense of establishing a rhythm, especially since Long and McNeil are such different style of players. :twocents:

i'll agree...having two QB's hurts a team because there is no consistant leader of the offense...as for the aggies in general they have proven me wrong this season...although i still hold strong that the defense is far from being the wrecking crew the team in general has made me stop and just look at them in a different light...i send congrates to the program for a good season so far...and good luck on the rest of the season

Young better get used to catching those passes like he did last week, because unless he has astronomical (GO ASTROS!!!) improvement over the next couple of years thats what he will be doing if he makes it to the next level.

I'm not a aggie fan, but I'm not blind. They have improved and will be in the hunt for the south title. McNeil is way ahead of Vince Young at this point. Young is making poor decisions and his throwing motion looks awful. If Texas does not find a passing game, Brown will have more to worry about than just losing to Oklahome.

This weekend is going to really determine the shape of the Big12. You have TAMU taking on the Sooners...with the Aggies hot right now and the serious home field advantage of Kyle Field there is a decent shot at an upset. If the Sooners come in flat or get off to a bad start and let the crowd play into the game we might see the Aggies win the day.

On the other end of the state, Texas vs Tech looks to be a critical match-up as well. Tech is going to stack 8 or 9 guys in the box to stop the run and basically dare the Longhorns to throw for the win. Looks like Young may not be starting, but that probably still won't matter at the end of the day. Tech is probably going to put up 30-35 points on the Longhorns so Texas better figure out how to throw the ball if they want to win.

Imagine the shake up after the weekend if Tech and A&M win on Saturday!!!! :woot

Vince Young may turn into something if we have a new O.C.

McNeil has definitely stepped up his game. I hope they beat OU and lose a close one to the Horns.

Anyone know what the tiebreaker is if A&M, OU, and Texas all end up with 1 conference loss (having beaten one another)?

You have TAMU taking on the Sooners

not for 2 more weeks. we have colorado at home and then we're at baylor THEN the sooners at home. although i don't get this impression from the mcneal lead aggs this year, they better not sleep on colorado. the last two times the buffaloes came to kyle field they beat a&m, and it would be a shame to be stipped of our new ranking so soon. can't say enough about mcneal though, alot of ignorant fans were chomping at the bit after the big loss to utah and claimed that "mcneal isn't the QB for a&m." but anyone who really watched the game saw mcneal trying to stay poised in the pocket despite heavy utah pressure. you could tell he was trying to be a QB and not rely on his legs until he was in a blitzing LB's crosshairs. he also had a few BIG drops from terence murphy and the "crew's" young secondary were on their heals all night because they weren't communicating. mcneal's progress, along with the team as whole, is really off the charts. we're two games away from seeing if fran has helped aggie football turn the corner to contend for the big 12 title.

i still hold strong that the defense is far from being the wrecking crew
the best thing is they know they're not the wrecking crew. although the fans will cheer/chant "wrecking crew" after a big play or series, it's more of a tribute to the "crew's" of old and the progress this young group has made. as long as they keep up the knack of turning the ball back over to the offense, they will be able to survive almost any mistake they make.

Yeah the rotation last year between the 2 quater backs was a distraction, but long is an awesome quaterback for sam houston ! I live in huntsville and they have been awesome with him here averaging like 45 points a game !

If A&M beats OU, Texas beats A&M and all three schools end in a tie at 7-1, then the tie goes to the team with the highest BCS ranking. I think it would be a close call between OU and UT in that scenario.

What is up with the whole t.u. thing? Is there really that much of an inferiority complex with the fans of A&M. It's UT just get used to it. We don't call ya'll m&a, it's gay, just like t.u. I would at least like an explanation of why ya'll say it (and maybe the t-sip thing too).

I was actually the one that said t.u. I am a Longhorn. Got used to it because my brother was in the Core at A&M when I was growing up.

They call us "t-sips" because they look at us as rich, uptight types that sit at home and sip tea (British style). I agree; it is moronic.

I was so freaking pissed about that game. I think in a way they were looking foward at OU and not at Baylor. But there D hasn't been playing up to what they did earlier this season. I'm just hoping what my dad says comes true. The aggies get so mad from the Baylor loss and the beating from OU last year they take it all out on OU. Still, even if they go 6-5, its a great improvment from last year and they are gonna be for real next year as a true tough team to play anywhere.

What a way to go Bears!! Put the big crew job to the Aggs and possibly Horns (by not letting Ags run table and lose to the Horns).

In all seriousness, What an incredible call by the Baylors coach to go for 2pts after the score. Congrads Bears on sticking it to the Ags. :headbang:

Yep, who thought OU was going to lose to K-State last year? Upsets happen, we should remember what we thought A&M was going to do this year and look where they are. They have exceeded expectations already so whos to say they wont beat OU and UT?

didnt UT already whip baylor ?????? Baylor would have NO chance to beat the horns ! Thats like Sam Houston State University beating OU ! idonno:

What makes me mad is that the loss to Baylor really doesn't hurt the Aggies, it only hurts UT. The Ags still have to beat UT AND OU to win the South division. By losing to Baylor, though, they all but eliminate Texas from the South division title. It is just like when OU lost to K-State. That didn't hurt OU nearly as much as it hurt Texas.

Well that was one of the worst coached seconds halfs I have seen in a long time. The aggies abandoned everything that worked in the first half (running!!!!!!) and gave White allllllll day to throw. Itll be nice to see OU play a team that doesnt fall on its face against them.

I dont get your logic?

Lets go back before the Baylor game. If A&M beats Baylor, then Texas could still have gone to the Big 12 Championship in a 3-way between A&M, OU, and Texas (all 7-1 in the conference).

By A&M losing to Baylor, it prevented that 3-way tie scenario and all but eliminated Texas from winning the conference.

Mind you all of that became irrelevant when OU beat A&M anyway.
