Thanksgiving in Detroit

TxDavid

Veteran
So I'm thinking this will be the game I will travel to this year. Our first thanksgiving game - just can't miss it.

Anyone else plan on making the trip to watch our boys beat up on them lions?
:lion:

David, trying to add you to the roadtrip Facebook group (for some reason I can't?). It's sole purpose in life is to arrange away game trips. It is what we used to the Balt. trip and has 60 members and growing.

In fact, I'll add anyone planning a road game. Just remember the point of the group is ONLY to discuss things related to road trips.

I was wondering the same thing, and since I have never had the desire to Facebook, I guess I would have to find out the old school way, right here... We are thinking about it, it'll be this game or the one in Chicago.

Looks like airfare is still high. Delta has non-stop flights for $514. United has a flight to Flint, MI - 50 miles away from Detroit for $370

I'm still thinking about a road trip. I have plenty of time off since I'm retired. BUT, it's a LONG trip. Fond memories of our road trips to Tenn. We had a blast, and with everyone taking a turn at driving we were there before we knew it. I know, a roadie to Detroit would take a couple days, but, it is doable.

The only way I would do it is if I plan it before I buy my ticket. I got to get there Wednesday and back on Sunday . This is going to be a blast I will tailgate with some awesome lions and y'all are coming too no matter how you get there

I'll be there. It's almost a home game for me since I live right across the border.. I hope I can meet a few of you guys there!

Man... I'm seriously considering this (as it would be much safer than a trip to New Orleans, where Joe does a faceplant and I have no recollection of "the Dungeon" and/or how we got back to the hotel)... The rub is that my family might disown me for missing Thanksgiving Dinner...

Are you sure they won't be giving thanks that you're missing it? :bender:

Trying to refrain from posting yet on these threads since every game will be a road game for me except the Titans away game. Who's coming to Nashville to visit me this year?

Anyhow, I will be at the Thanksgiving game.... a perk of being unmarried without kids. You can do and be where ever you want. I'll be more active on the board when training camp starts. Still tired from my 2011 season travels.

Just talked to The greatest lions fan ever and it is on. Told him he is going to need a big barn to keep us contained

I may. We'll have to see what happens. I'm moving to Memphis next month and if I can get a job quick enough I may be able to get some tickets.

I'll let you know.

Kay Im trying to go to 6 away games this year and by the sound of this thread
I might make it 7... for the Facebook group could you guys add me? Eddie Hassan

Yay! So glad you will be on the road this year! We will have so much fun. As soon as southwest.com has another special on flights, I will start buying my flights for the away/home games.

So I think for most games I'll be flying out on Friday and coming back Monday, when you book with SWA let me know only problem is that Hobby is like an hour away..

Just bought my tix on stub hub and booked our hotel! Looking for a tailgate if anyone has the hookup :)

Arriving Wed 11/21 to DTW, leaving 11/23. We are staying at the Milner Hotel (yeah it's a dive, but it's walking distance and CHEAP!). Seats are lower level end zone 119 (97 each on stub hub).

Looking for a Tailgate to join into :)

Kimmy how much was your flight? I really want to go but for that game it seems that the flight is the only kicker.

I used SW airlines and it was about 900 for two. Yes, it's high but when the Hub said "ok", you know I booked it!

I told him we will save a fortune by me not cooking as we have an open house type Thanksgiving and it cost a fortune ;)

The hotel is dirt cheap and the tickets weren't near as bad as I thought and really good seats.

I'm pretty excited

What row are you? I found some in the same section that I might scoop up. Would be awesome sitting near other Texans fans!

Row 19 :) I think its the very 1st ones if you select section 119. We are on the aisle and he had 4.

I found them using seatgeek.com. I prefer that site much better as it compares prices from one section to the next including row number and has a formula which compares price on the specifics of the ticket.. and searches the NFL ticket marketplace, stubhub and whatever other major ticket sellers. The seats you have were rated as one of the best for the price. I ended up buying them, I'm looking forward to the game!

All you guys and gals had better represent at the tailgate where I invited you they are waiting like kitty kats for us just to see how a bull tames a lion

I received an email from Stub Hub stating my tickets were in the mail! Getting to be pretty excited :) 124 days!

I received my ticket 2 days ago, I will be in sec 123 row 19. I tried to get sec 119 but was told none where available.

Yup! Got my tickets yesterday :D

I just got my tickets, I will be at this game. Going to be wearing the red jerseys, to ensure we stand out even more. haha. Would love to meet up with some of you guys beforehand!

I will be there also! Section 139 row 6, tickets were pretty cheap at about 125 each. We will get there Tuesday. Hopefully we'll be able to meet up with some Texans there!

After hanging with the ultimate fans from Detriot, I am soooo pumped about this game! :-) Good times ahead and maybe some hot tubbing.

Airfare is killing me. I've been looking for months and it's too freaking high. I'm starting to seriously consider a road trip on this.

Ha, well come through Nashville and pick me up :-). I am strongly considering driving up too. It is 8 hours for me. Maybe southwest has the tickets cheap...

Might do that Kay! I've crunched some numbers, and I figured transportation for 4 people should be $100 each for gas round-trip from Houston. Unfortunately I have a pickup truck, so I need someone with a car to make this work, or I have to borrow a car from my family (not sure if that's an option yet). Driving my truck moves the gas price up from $400 to $600, and will only carry two people comfortably.

So if someone in Houston has a car & is up for a roadtrip to Detroit, send me a PM and let's get this thing rollin!

I am looking at heading to this game as well. Coming from NY so I have a little bit of a shorter trip. Just waiting to see if my cousin can get off work to car pool with me. If we go im hoping to get a hotel within walking distance (half mile or so) from the stadium.

My main concern is the safety of the area, especially while wearing a texans jersey.

Are you guys getting seats in the same section? I would love to have a whole section or at least a row of texans fans.

Also I dont have facebook so I cant join/check the facebook group.
