Texas Bowl logo introduced.

Tailgate

Fall of Hame
The Texas Bowl officially kicked off a new chapter in Texas football history at a press conference Thursday morning at Reliant Stadium in Houston. Lone Star Sports & Entertainment President Jamey Rootes announced the name and unveiled the bowl’s logo.

I just hope they don't come up with another crappy sponsor like gallery or ev1.net. Those were both horrible.

Can't wait to see how this will look under a giant corporate logo. Who do you think they will get to sponsor the Texas Bowl? Halliburton? (They could use some spin-doctoring.)

I like the logo but the name is lame. They couldn't think of anything better than the Texas Bowl?

Better than the Houston Super Bowl logo.

The worst Houston logo is still 100 times better than anything little d has and ever will produce.

Well as far as this logo goes it is a nice looking Texas belt buckle.

I just hope that this group running this thing can build the bowl up and make it a big time game year in and year out.

Actually, being famous for that logo is a reflection of the Super Bowl logos. Without those Super Bowls, nobody is really going to care about the handcuffs.

Do you understand why it was such news when Lawrence Taylor was arrested multiple times? Why do you think there was such a stink made about Michael Jordan's gambling? I'll give you a hint...it's not because they were average athletes.

Yeah, Art Schlichter won many Super Bowls and was MVP many years with the Colts. That's why his gambling problems made the headlines. Elite athletes aren't the only athletes under scrutiny. Any athlete. See Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Phillies.

and this would be Dallas........
Wow...ya got me there. After the handcuffs were posted, I didn't think they could be topped. You have bested me this day! (Though I'm not sure what Michael Jackson has to do with anything)

I think that's the point.

By the way I happened to like the SB XXXVIII logo. One team I didn't want there(Dallas) didn't make it so I was happy.
I see. You're one of those fans that takes more pleasure in teams you don't like not doing well than your own team doing well. So on a general scale, you must've led a pretty unhappy sporting life considering Dallas has been to more Super Bowls than any other team.

Sure they haven't been to all of them but that's a narrow-minded viewpoint. If a baseball hitter has a .400 season, that's one hell of an accomplishment. But the pitcher is still getting the better of him more than half the time. But does that take away the accomplishment of hitting .400?

You got it all wrong. I just didn't want Dallas making it to the SB in Houston
that one year. I liked watching the SB's with Dallas in the 70's and even the 90's until the last few years I have grown to hate the team and the fans. Especially ones that come here and put Houston down...............
If you're under the impression I come here to put Houston down, you must be new.

Why did you go on a rant about baseball? Dude. This is a College Bowl game thread and you picked on the Houston SB logo also. Try to stay on topic ok? dee dee dee
Who was ranting about baseball? It was used as an example. Apparently you didn't get the point.

Even more evidence to you being new, if you were around when the Houston SB logo originally came out, you'd know that it wasn't just non-Houston fans that were poking fun at it. "Bonanza meets Star Wars" was my personal favorite.

This thread got off topic when somebody made a post about Dallas. If you go back and look, you'll see it wasn't me. I simply responded to it. Those here that know me and my style know I post in jest (See: "choking logo").

It would be nice for one of the Oil Companies based in Houston to sponsor the Texas Bowl (based in Houston). I know they have the money to set up a freakin endowment to pay the participants, give to a local charity (Shriner's/TX Children) and make a positive PR move for perception to the public.

Who knows...I'd love to see the Texas Bowl become the 5th BCS Bowl.
