Texans vs. Cowboys

I hope we see the first team offense for a quarter or so. We need those guys healthy, because we have a dramatic drop from first to second team. As far as the defense goes if they struggle again I'm sure Dom will leave them in the entire half.

You'll see the starters longer as the preseason nears an end and players are cut. Nobody wants to see a preseason injury go down, but you've got to get these guys ready for a full game of football come Sunday afternoons.

This is the preseason game where the first team will be out there the longest. For the final game the starters will barely see the field. That's when they try and make sure nobody important gets lost to an injury. This week is the closest to a real game that we'll get until Buffalo.

Nice to the see the Cowboys scheduled this week.

i remember when the oilers used to play their starters the whole game the last week of preseason. guess times have changed.

yeah, I seemed to remember that too. It seemed like the last preseason game was as close to a real game as you would get.

Teams used to play their 1st squads at least 3/4 in the last game. Now they use the next to last for that and the last one is the final look at guys before they do the last cuts.

Of course we are going to shut them out just like last year. They probably haven't gotten any better and I'm sure we have.

Actually it will probably be closer, but I think the Texans have the slight edge. Just to throw out numbers, 17-14 Texans.

Well . . . that being the case . . . would it be too much to ask (and YES, I KNOW it's preseason, and YES, I KNOW there won't be any exotic blitz packages) . . . again, would it be too much to ask the defense to least show any sort of a hint, or give some kind of tiniest indication that they are able to rush the passer . . . against a 33 year old drop-back QB with a suspect O-line?

Naaaaaaa . . . I guess that would be too much to ask.

Make sure all you guys look for the LARGE Texans gathering in the side endzone over the visitors tunnel.

We will be representing very well for that game.

Actually, I predict a bit of pressure against the cowgirls, but that will only get our hopes up for the decimation in buffalo in a few weeks

Julius Jones does not worry me, it's the cowgirls defense. They had one hell of a draft and have put together quite a defense. It should be a good test for our first team offense.

Post your comments and predictions here about the Cowboys Texans Game coming up next week :texflag:

My pediction is that we will win by a historical margin with only our third string in the game and the cowgirls will be so ashamed that they will pack up and move to southern Oklahoma where they will start their new lives as gerbil ranchers.

...or we will do really good against their passing game so they will resort to running more. Then our offense will pick them apart with DD, Morency and the passing game. Final score 24-7 Texans win.

We had better have some help over on the left side for the LT to block Ware (an RB and TE???), or David will be spending a lot of time on the ground. If we hold him out of the back field, we should do pretty well against the cowpies. If not, it will be a long night.

If we beat the boys we will be thumping our chests and saying "alright". :fans:

If the boys beat us their trolls will be here saying "scoreboard".

Then in two weeks the real games start and this game will mean zilch, nada except to the guys who played themselves into or out of a place on the team.

It will be fun to watch the Texans thump :boxing: some cowboy arse though.

I'm confident that we will still have the bragging rights for the year after this game. I do have to admit that this is the toughest Cowboy team we've had to face. I sure hope that Carr has on his "magic shoes" come game time cause Ware is gonna be all over him. Ill be watching for a glimpse of our new blitz packages that Capers is installing. Hopefully we can get a decent pass rush when just our linemen when we go to nickel and dime def. Considering that Bledsoe is going to behind center and the Cowgirls have a shaky line in the first place. I wanna see if TJ can bring the pressure that we need when we drop into zone defenses. Well im ready for the game to start already...

Here's a suggestion for you guys that are all steamed up about playing
the Cowboys Saturday - get yourself a secondary team to support in the
NFC East. I want you to continue to passionatly support the Texans and
keep them as your favorite team as I will. But if beating the Cowboys is that important to you, you can also support the Eagles, Redskins, or Giants and route for a team to beat the Cowboys because they'll be playing them twice every year, and both games count ! The Texans have some more individual player evaluation to complete but to the team, this game Saturday is only significant to the Texans if somebody important on the team gets hurt and nobody here wants that. But the real season and important games do start soon now - in September.

According to Capers, this is the game that the starters will play the most and they will also game plan as well.

The last game against TB the starters will probably see very little time.

Did the game with tampa Bay get cancelled?

no i dont think so. in the tampa game, the first team proly gets just two possessions, then its bench players bc its the last game b4 major cuts take place. in the dallas game, i really need to see a legitimate pass rush. i sure as heck do not want to see bledsoe bomb nearly 200 yards on our 1st team defense like collins did.

Every year all teams (not just the Texans), play their starters more in the
next to the last preseason game than any of the others. And most every year I fail to see a positive correlation between team intensity, focus, and
execution between preseason games (any of them), and when the regular season kickoffs in September. You watch the difference between how the veterans, the mainstays of the team play this weekend and compare it to the opener in Buffalo - it'll be like night and day.

has pettway played yet? i watched him in college and he was a pretty commanding player. he played lb and de in college so he should be a good pass rusher. i just want to see him get the chance. :)

:ok: So, you're telling me that if the defense is unable to get any sort of pressure on Bledsoe on Saturday night, it won't be anything to worry about? :fishing:

I, for one, am already tired of hearing about DeMarcus Freaking Ware. Some of you guys speak of him like he's already LT in his prime. Is he going to be a good, and possibly great, player in this league? Probably. Did he have an impressive preseason game against Seattle? Yes. But take a deep breath...geez. A sack/fumble and a pick (on a play where Hass locked on to that TE and threw a bad pass) in a preseason game does not make him a first ballot Hall of Famer. (Or maybe I just HATE the Cowboys. Sorry for the rant.)

That's one of the reasons I've been an Eagles fan for years- because I hate the Cowboys, and it bugged me to see them in the Super Bowl a while back.

Another thing- I've always disliked Bledsoe and Parcells, so it would be great to see our team make them both look bad.

Wasn't Jackson Browne their QB before they drafted Don Henley?

You're thinking of Glenn Frey. Jackson Browne is the guy who took Steely Dan's job with the Cardinals when Steely got hurt.

Dont count on it. It's a new D and still a lot of growing pains to go threw.

The big Tuna hang' his hat on preseason wins... Dom could
care less.. He's checking what. how and when to use his
players..

Where did you get that from. They did not game plan at all against the Cards. Bledsoe even came to the sidlines and told BP that they had Glenn deep. BP told him he knew that but that's not what he's trying to do. They game planned a little against Sea. and BP said it will be less against the Texans.

There is a lot of things he needs to check out which is why I believe the Texans starters will out play the Cowboys. Watch the Cowboys D in the 1st half and see the amount of players coming in and out. They'll probally rotate RT's as well.

I see a lot of people talking about Ware and the D. Remember its a new D they are learning. Ware had one good game. Our LB's were horrible in pass coverage besides the one INT from Ware. Seattle picked them apart. If it wasn't for Ware it would had been ugly. I dought Ware will avg 2 sacks and 1 INT a game. I hope he does but it wont happen.

BTW. All coaches want to win. It's just a matter of winning and seeing what you have. Sometimes the winning gets sacrisfised.

DeMarcus Ware had 3 tackles, a sack, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and an interception himself last week against Seattle.

That sounds like a whole season from Babin and Peek :tomato:

i cant wait to see what they look like playing more than one series, so far in the first 2 pre-season games we have drove all the way down, once stopped on 4th and goal and the next we scored. We have been moving the ball very well !
