Texans trade Rankin for Carlos Hyde

The score sports app

The Kansas City Chiefs have traded running back Carlos Hyde to the Houston Texans for offensive lineman Martinas Rankin, a league source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Hyde could find himself in a prominent role for the Texans, who lost Lamar Miller to a torn ACL during the preseason.

No need for these Running backs wit no fukin line to run behind....... we can go get Zeke but if this line stays the same ..... WHATS THE POINT ..... my gawd this organization Is trash

Rankin was going to be cut. Everybody on this board seemed to hate him. What’s the big deal? Texans also traded for Pats CB Keion somebody...Corrian?

If Rankins develops into a contributor with the Chiefs, that'll be conclusive proof of what Devlin is as a coach.
The Chiefs will probably turn him into a solid starter, Cal will ignore the fact Devlin couldn’t even manage to prepare him enough to even be third string.

That’s a damn good trade! Duke Johnson and Carlos Hyde, man!! Good job Butt Chin. I’ll take this over just sitting on your hands, watching everyone else make moves...
I think it’s a decent trade too. Rankins was going to be cut anyways, so it’s nice that we filled a need and got something back.

This move was made to make sure each team could get the player they wanted off the waiver wire as both players were going to get cut. If you're saying it's no big deal because Rankin was going to get cut anyways, you're overlooking the fact that Rankin outplayed Scharping this preseason and that Rankin wouldn't be getting cut if they hadn't drafted 2 guards. It's a horrible mismanagement of draft picks and demonstrates once again that our player evaluation and acquisition strategy sucks.

Rankin outplayed Scharping in preseason? I'm not seeing it man. But I only watched the first quarter of each game or so.

Signing Hyde doesn't do much for me. Hyde has lost a step and isn't the same runner he was with the 49ers. I guess his career yards per carry of 4.0 fits in with the run it up the middle offense of the Texans.

I would like to know what did Rankins do to fall out of favor with the Texans. Last season, he was good enough for them to throw out at LT when everyone knew he was a guard. They knew because of his injuries, he would be better on the right side, but still played him on the left.

I will not be surprise if Rankins plays RG at a high level for the Chiefs.

If they can't get anything development wise out of a 3rd rounder going into his sophomore year, there's something fundamentally wrong. The top 100 of a team's draft board should be full of high enough confidence guys that they're worth holding onto for more than their first year.

At least we have running backs that can block now. That’s a positive, right? Riiiight?! Please tell me that’s a positive...:mcnugget:

Got it. You’d start rankin at RG over Sharping.
No, you don't get it. You don't draft 2 guards after you got 3 the year before and put yourself in the position of getting nothing for guys that should be developing and future starters.

Maybe it's our "GM" evaluation and acquisition strategy that sucks!
