Case in point was Gaine's inaction on moving former Texans edge rusher Jedeveon Clowney. As I recall he was wideley critisized for not
expediting JDCs exit from Houston.
Then in Gaines absence with JDC still on the Texans roster, along came O'Brien who seemed to be bent on executing a textbook case of industrial sabotage when he sent Clowney packing to the Pac NW.

This after Clowney said he wasn’t holding out and will play on tag! Then using the little capital he acquired to get non-factors Gareon Conley and Duke Johnson.
Clowney turned out to be a rental for the Seahawks but the Texans sure could have used his help that season and all we have to show for it now is Jacob Martin who is not a lock to make this team.

Unless I’m wrong Martin has far more sacks than Clowney since the trade (does Clowney even have one?)and will be in the DL rotation this year And is showing upside and will be finally playing in the position he was originally drafted for. Who did they get with the 2020 third…Greenard? Not DJ or Conley. Clowney wouldnt Have made squat difference last year and wasn’t he also injured? Great trade.

We are both incorrect. Duke Johnson wasn’t involved and neither was Greenard. It was the 3rd round pick the Texans used for Conley plus two players. One less pick than I initially thought is even worse!
And while Martin is a decent pass rush specialist I think everyone would agree Clowney would have been preferred during 2019 season especially when Watt went down majority of regular season and came back compromised. Who knows… maybe the meltdown against the Chiefs would’ve waited until the 2nd half too?!

6.5 for Martin, 3 for JD, if all you’re interested in is sacks. JD has 11 TFL to Martin’s 3, and 19 QB hits to Martin’s 3, so there’s that.
There was also sexual harassment suits filed during Gaine's tenure on Kirby.

I believe it was a targeting case that was eventually dismissed and Gaine was fired because Easterby thought he had pulled a coup and hired Caserio at the Pats ring ceremony. JE came back to Houston the next day and told Cal he could fire Gaine because Caserio was in. Until he wasn't after the Pats filed tampering charges.
I believe aliens were involved.

My understanding is Cal took over the day to day the last year Bob M was alive. Basically it was after the 2017 season when Bob began to fade from the daily scene. Although Bob did hire Brian Gaine as GM Jan 13, 2018. It wasn't long after Bob died in Nov 2018 (6 mo) that all of the Cal BS began:
April 2019 Cal hires Easterby.
6 Jun 2019 - Easterby goes to ring ceremony, believes he has hired Caserio as GM
7 Jun 2019 - Easterby convinces Cal to fire Brian Gaine
June 2020 - Pats file tampering charges against Texans for trying to hire Caserio.
20 Jan 2020 - Texans fire Chris Olson, Vice President of Football Operations
28 Jan 2020 - Texans promote Jack Easterby to Vice president of Football Operations
28 Jan 2020 - Texans make Bill O'Brien GM
11 Nov 2020 - Texans fire Amy Palcic for promoting left wing politics
6 Jan 2021 - Texans hire Nick Caserio as GM

I actually think Gaines could have built a solid team if not for the issues that got him fired. He was pretty good at finding guys thought to be done and giving them new life at a discount. Now if OB could have coached that team I don’t know. I’d like to think if he wasn’t fighting with the GM and then wearing the hat of the GM he could have been a pretty good coach but we will never know for sure and it doesn’t matter now.

Thing is Texans first and foremost are a corporation and corporations always know what’s going on in their company with their high level managers. Managers on that level aren’t fired for the things they do they are fired for getting caught and bringing attention to what they are doing.
Lying to a newspaper like the Chronicle is just business as usual.
Hard to say, Bill O'Brien was poison. He wasn't very good at coaching coaches & the players suffered. Good players never became great. Marginal players never became good. Thankfully he was given a handful of great players, or we'd have been the Browns the last six years.

Except you're forgetting the part where Texans said they were not aware of discrimination charges (that were eventually dismissed) when they fired Gaine. I guess if you dimiss the part about Easterby spending most of time talking to Nick Caserio at Pats ring ceremony only to return to Houston the next day to have Cal fire Brian Gaine, and sweep all of that under the rug. Along with the Pats filling tampering charges against Texans for trying to hire Caserio at the ring ceremony, then your scenario might make some sense.

Gaines was fired because of his actions towards some workers who filed complaints on him. Then he knew the situation between Clowney and O’Brien and he still tried to give 90 a hefty contract extension. Had nothing to do with Nick Caserio or Easterby. Lol

The fact is sexual harassment had been going on for yrs before Gaine even got to Houston. After Gaine got here suits were filed and Gaine was gone.

If this were true Gaine would have sued for wrongful termination.
This may be an outlandish theory - maybe Easterby knew Gaine was about to be fired and he was talking to Nick about a pending open position.
