FB- johnathon wells
RB- Domanick Davis
WR- Andre johnson
WR- jabar gaffney
LT- who knows

C- better ask john clayton
RG- maybe dom capers knows a thing or two
RT- better yet, ask tom pendry
TE - i wouldnt go to chris palmer for an answer

WHO'S READY FOR THE SEASON TO START??? :highfive:

QB- David Carr
FB- Morran Norris (Well is just for speical suitation as a FB)
RB- Domanick Davis (Look for no other than TRAVIS HERNY to step in ASAP.)
WR- Andre Johnson
WR- Jabar Gaffney
LT- Ross Verbra
LG- Chester "da man" Pitts
C- Steve Mckinney
RG- Wingeart (sp?)
RT- Todd Wade
TE - Probably Billy Miller

RB- Domanick Davis (Look for no other than TRAVIS HERNY to step in ASAP.)

you, sir, are hopeless. may god have mercy on your soul...

and it's wiegert, no 'n'...

also, i think the odds of us getting verba are quite slim, espcially considering the desparity between what we have offered so far and how much he is asking. i'm inclined to think the offense will look like this:

WR's
1. dre
2. bradford
3. gaff
4. armstrong
5. starling/mathis

RB's
1. DD
2. morency
3. hollings

FB's
1. wells
2. norris

QB's
1. carr
2. banks
3. ragone

TE's
1. miller
2. bruener
3. rivers

LT
1. pitts/wand (depending on who wins the spot in training camp)

RT
1. wade

T backup pool
1. riley
2. jones/lightbody (young project tackle)

RG's
1. wiegert
2. weary

LG's
1. pitts (if wand beats him at LT)/mckinney (if he loses the C job *my fingers are crossed :heh: *)
2. weary

C's
1. mckinney/washington
2. hodgdon

of course signing verba will skew everything, but since it hasn't happened i'm not considering him a depth chart option.

It's HENRY.

And before the anti-spellchecking police come out, it isn't a typo--this is about the 10th time he has typed Herny.

At the begging of the season

QB-Carr
FB-Norris
WR-Johnson
WR-Gaffney
No idea on Oline only starter thats a sure bet is Todd Wade

End of Season
QB-Carr
FB-Norris
WR-Johnson
WR-Jerome Mathis
No idea on Oline only starter thats a sure bet is Todd Wade

:offtopic TexansNeedRBin05-
Let us in on what your handle will be next season.
I think it will be:
TexansNeedQBin06-you will be calling for a straight up trade, Carr for Harryntun (shhh....I spelled it wrong so he'd know who I was talking about).

What do you guys think. Include a trade for fun.
:banme

QB-Carr
RB-Davis
FB-Norris
TE-Bruener/Miller rotation

Offensive Line, going out on a limb here:
LT-Verba
LG-Pitts
C-McKinney
RG-Weigert
RT-Wade
WR-Johnson
WR-Bradford

QB-Carr
RB-Davis
FB-Norris
TE-Could be Rivers, Bruener or Miller. I hope Rivers progresses.
WR-Johnson
WR-Bradford

Could be anything on the line:
Option one:
LT-Verba/Pitts/Wand
LG-Pitts/McKinney
C-McKinney/?
RG-Weigert
RT-Wade

I don't think anything changes from last year as of right now.

as usual vinny you are the voice of reason and restraint. can we all please wait until at least training camp before engaging in such speculation? If we make it through training camp unscathed by injuries then we can start speculating... i propose a ban on all speculation until the day before the last preseason game...

T backup pool
1. riley
2. jones/lightbody (young project tackle)

Sorry, but Lightbody has already been released

sorry, used the roster on the homepage to deduce and decide who would make my roster. i knew smith was released but lightbody escaped me...i'm with vinny, it's too early to speculate anyways :heh: !

He also spells Duce Staley's name as Stanley...

I didnt know Verba was signed by us. If he is then is the starter but if he hasnt i wouldnt even put him on the list. I would go by current roster

QB- Carr
RB- Davis
WR- Johnson
WR- Gaffney
WR- Mathis/Starling/Armstrong
H-Back- J. Wells
LT- Wand
LG- Pitts
C- McKinney
RG- Weigert
RT- Wade

This roster when using the quick timing routes to spread the field and maybe open up the running game,...

and

QB- Carr
RB- Davis
RB- J. Wells/ Morency
WR- Johnson
WR- Mathis/Starling/Gaffney/Armstrong
TE- Bruener
LT- Wand
LG- Pitts
C- McKinney
RG- Weigert
RT- Wade

This roster when wanting to use max protect and throw down the field for an occasional large yardage gain... or drop a dink pass or run play to either DD, Morency, or J. Wells to keep the the opposing D. guessing.

What do all of you think about this????

first i'm leaving out any names that are not on the texans roster as of now...it's pointless to assume verba is gonna take our one year deal...and as far as henry's case is better to bet he's going to either the jags or titans that us

starters
qb carr
fb norris
rb davis
wr andre
wr bradford
te bruener
lt pitts (you don't mess with the lineup during camp unless you're gonna change it)
lg riley (ah the big surprise...we use his 340+lb butt to play guard)
c mckinney
rg wiegert
rt wade

back ups

qb ragone
fb wells
rb morency
wr gaffney, mathis
wr armstrong, starling
te miller
lt wand
lg hodgdon (i know he's a center but right now i give him more credit than milford brown or brandon evans)
c washington
rg weary
rt t. brown (the udfa was huge at west virginia for those of you who watched their games you know what i'm talking about)

Hey so what if he doesn't spell right or anything, its not like its english class and you still understand what hes saying so whats the big deal? And if he think that the Texans need an RB then just let him have his own opinion, cause at least he actually sticks with his opinion no matter what.

No acutally my SN next year will probably be the Starting RB lastname and #. Carr is AWESOME and no I will never say trade him.

Oh BTW Big D Fan or whatever your going to be getting a new SN its called TexansNeedRBin05isagenuisein06!

Do you think we can clean up all these run-on sentences?

No way Billy Miller starts next season- unless the position is ravaged by injuries. I'd actually be surprised if he makes the team this year. With Bruener, Murphy, and Rivers, I think he'll be left out unless an injury happens. God bless him, but he's just too much of a liability as a blocker to also lack explosiveness as a receiver.

murphy? considering murphy hasnt started.....ever i dont think he'll beat out billy miller. Bruener cant catch so hes to much of a liability if hes open and rivers.....never watched him play.

well i have a feeling that we will strike a deal with ross verba. i dont know alot about him. i know that he was the starting LT in cleveland, but i dont know how good he is. anybody know a thing or 2 about him?? i wouldnt mind having pitts at LT. if he doesnt commit alot of penalties at LT, then i think he is pro bowl caliber. he literally manhandled some of the top DE's in the NFL, like jason taylor. he didnt commit too many penalties at LG last yr, so if he is our LT this yr, hopefully being at LT wont be the difference in whether or not he commits alot of penalties. i have a feeling that derrick armstrong and/or jerome mathis have a chance to overtake jabar gaffney for the 2nd reciever spot. but its not like i would really mind. we probably have the most talented and most underrated WR core in the NFL. not many teams can say that they have 5 legitimate WRs on their team. we have andre the giant, gaffney, armstrong, mathis, and bradford. :thumbup

So did C. Pitts in season #2, and we demoted him, for now.

Vinny said:
huh? We haven't demoted Pitts. Where do you get that from?
Ask him where he'd rather be. He'll say LT, not LG.
Oh, wait a minute. He's already been asked that and answered it. On the the Texans website (Texans Internet TV) no less.
So using the term "demoted" is my opinion on how he feels. Not to mention that most (not all) fans that understand the game realize that LT is more important than LG.
Before you pull out the Marco Rivera card or the Mark Wahle card on me, I do understand that LG is very important. All the way to the point that some LG's make their battery mate @ LT look better due to their strong play. See the 2 aforementioned names.
He hasn't been "demoted" to #2 on the depth chart.
So all in all I made a quick reply without fully explaining myself. My bad.

I think you are reading way too much into mini-camps. Pitts has never played Guard in his life until last season and he struggled in his first year. I'm sure he is more comfy in the LT spot. Moving to the Guard isn't a demotion.....backing up Weigert would be.

Didn't he play guard @ SD. State?

How good is Verba? You last line says says it all, he started in Cleveland.

Seems to be a pretty big misconception, but he played LT at SD State.

From his bio on the main page.

COLLEGE: Didn’t play football until he walked on at SDSU… allowed just one sack in two seasons as Aztecs’ starting left tackle…started all 11 games at “quick” tackle in 2001…did not allow a sack while registering 108 knockdowns on 762 snaps…earned first-team All-Mountain West Conference honors and third-team All-America accolades…helped offense average 323.1 yards per contest…finished with 11 blocks that resulted in Aztec TDs…started nine games at “quick” tackle in 2000…yielded just one sack and graded out at 83 percent…posted 60 knockdowns, helping offense average 305 yards per game…graded out at 96 percent at Arizona State in first career start…played in one game in 1999, lining up for 30 snaps against Kansas…joined the team as a walk-on in 1998…saw action on the scout team.…majored in public administration

I agree, I dont think Miller will make the team, I am hoping Murphy gets the job, I'll bet we see alot of Murphy on Saturday

Well, he has started both preseason games. Eventhough Bruener hasn't been playing in the preseason games, he is still starting before Miller.

"We hear that Matt Murphy has established himself as Houston’s second-string tight end, leaving Billy Miller’s future with the team somewhat in doubt. Miller is a good pass catcher, but his blocking remains a problem, and he has been bothered by an ankle injury in the preseason."
- a quote from pro football weekly

Miller will make the team, even if he is 3rd on the depth chart. Bruener has a history of injuries so he's not all that durable so Miller will be needed.

I am super excited to see our offense this year. I think we will make huge strides, and leapfrog over alot of teams in offensive yards, points, ect.

I just feel that The offense finally has had time to, i hate to use the word...gel, but they have the same starting 11. I think Carr will show the most improved numbers.

"PRO: Selected by the Bills with the fourth overall pick in the 2002 Draft after, in order, QB David Carr (Houston), DE Julius Peppers (Carolina), and QB Joey Harrington (Detroit)…was Buffalo's highest draft pick since Bruce Smith (#1 overall in 1985)…was the first offensive lineman selected."

Here's another example of how tough it is to find a player than can make as
your LT. This Texas grad taken by the Bills in our teams first year was #4 overall, but is now their RT and not LT. Sounds alot like Gallery who was taken #2 overall last year, but is still not the Raiders LT as like Williams is
playing RT. That's a huge price to pay for an OL, especially when he's not
over there on the weakside.
