Texans Re-sign LBs Troy Evans and Shantee Orr

El Tejano

Hall of Fame
Like always, the Austin American Statesman did not put an article about it since it has to do with the Texans and not the Cowgirls. :thumbdown

But I figure you all have read more about it somewhere.

Even though these signings happened, I still think we will get an ILB in the draft because these guys have been standouts on special teams. :hmmm:

I really like the fact that we are getting players to resign who are familiar with the system. This way the coaches have a solid understanding of what they have and can build on what they already know instead of starting over with an entirely new group.

I agree with that. This could be the year we see the improvement in our depth due to that. :thumbup

Yes. It kinda looks like one of the main things we have going for us this year is our stability and our players familiarity with the system. I just hope that with that stability and our draft picks we will be able to pick up 3 more wins.

I like it for some positions, but not for others. Considering what is out there in FA we could have been doing better that resigning players such as Bradford wells. We took a shot at Pace and missed, but frustratingly quiet since then. To me the Texans are saying it's not the players, it's the system and the execution. I tend to think we need a couple more playmakers.

The off-season isn't about entertaining fans. Wells is still young and he had a game where he ran for over 100 yards behind our mediocre offensive line. Considering he will be our second or third string tailback, I'd say that's pretty good depth.

The Texans are saying it IS about the players- it's about the players they've drafted and have spent the past couple of seasons developing. We're fortunate to have a team that has a plan and is determined to execute it... Some teams change philosophies from year to year and never develop any continuity. The team isn't cheap, and I guarantee you that Casserly and Capers are as eager to win as you. They think they are on track to do just that.

Yeah, at least we can say our organization is sticking to their guns. Historically, those teams that execute their plan reap better benefits for many seasons. I don't want to be like the Oilers and just make the playoffs, I wanna go to the darn SuperBowl.

Actually the offseason is about entertaining the fans, in fact, that is what the whole sport is about. Ever see NFL network converage of the combine? Are you seeing all the hype on ESPN for the draft? That is entertainment. It's a sport, sport is entertainment.

I would just like to make the playoffs. :thumbup

Shantee is listed as an ILB...I thought he had a good showing when he got an opportunity late in the 2003 season, but for some reason he ended up on the practice squad last year...He has really good potential IMO...
