The Houston Chronicle reports the Houston Texans have added WR Triandos Luke to their practice squad. He was recently released by the Denver Broncos.

What does Reggie have against JJ? Following him around, taking his job.

That's not right. :boxing:

Guess that the Texans got a good look @ Triandos Luke while the Broncos
were in town last month for the inter squad scrimmages and preseason game
and they obviously liked what they saw.
No news from the wires so far on Sloan Thomas ? I dunno.....he must be sorting thru all those offers from other teams posters on our the Board have
alleged he's got - apparently he's just trying to decide which one to choose.

Is the Texans website slowto upate. They aren't showing any such transaction. In fact, I don't think Luke would be elidgeable for the practice squad. He played 10 games last season for Denver.

Speaking of the Broncos, does anybody else think it was kind of messed up that Rice chose to retire after the Broncos cut their roster down to 53? Some reciever got cut that didn't have to. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Jerry Rice, but it's kind of wrong IMO.

Yeah I agree. I have tons of respect for his career but I think that move was sort of a slap in the face for the whole team. Particularly the player who's spot he took and the staff who had to make those tough decisions. He had to know going into this phase that if he was too low on the depth chart it wouldn't be worth it to him. I think he had a responsibility to let the staff know that if it meant risking a potential talent they could have secured rather than exposing them to possible waiver claims.

Yeah, I was multi-tasking during Capers show so I don't know if it was addressed, but the chron. lists his name last on the list with no explanation.

also, the guys at HPF said that a player had to be on the active 45 man roster versus the 53 man roster on that number. I am just repeating what was told to me with this info.

I think Rice got Steve Largent to let him reactivate Largent's jersey # at Seattle (which had been retired to honor Largent's career with the Seahawks)
when he went there to play so he could wear it since it was also his # 80 with the 49ers. I always thought that was pretty classless to. Rice was a great WR, but definitely not above taking advantage of his celebrity status.

Luke was active (gameday active = 45) for 10 games last year meaning he's not eligible for the practice squad, unless I'm missing something.

They did bring him through for a "workout" along with QBs Davey and Jesse Palmer.
