Texans Mock Draft 2006

GanadoUHCoog

Waterboy
Texans trade #1 pick to Jets for #4 pick and # 36 pick(2nd rd.) and next years 2nd rd pick.

1. Mario Williams DE
2a. Eric Winston OT or the best tackle availible at the time
2b. Thomas Howard LB
3a. Davin Joseph OG
3b. Darrell Hunter CB
4. Dwayne Slay S
5. Reggie McNeal QB/WR
6. Garrett Mills TE/FB
7. Michael Robinson QB or maybe a kicker because i've had enough of Kris Brown

Not bad other than I think we do need to look at a TE higher than the 6th (I could see in the 3rd round after trading down, or else the 4th), and I'm not sure why you'd get Reggie McNeal and Michael Robinson and have two project QB/WR combo players.

I think that our need for a TE is over-rated. Also, Joppru is going to be back this year (hopefully). I think Mills is a steal in the 6th because he has really good hands. As far as getting McNeal and Robinson, I think that they are steals in the late rounds with their immense athletcism. I think that if they were WR or S in college they would both go much higher. If I were the Texans, I would draft them and take a chance on being able to parlee their athleticism to another position. Of course they probablly wouldn't see the field for 1-2 years, but you wouldn't really expect them to come in and contribute right away since they are both late-round projects.

God, we hear one little rumor of Winston falling to the second and hang on to it for dear life.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but chances are he goes in the first.

signed, Jamal Lord

McNeil is a first day pick at QB. And if he was to fall to us to the 4th round, then we should be happy and take him. He's gonna be a good starter in the NFL one day. And talk of moving him to reciever is only a last resort. His faster and a better thrower than V-Young, the only difference is the talent around him. U cant lose 3 starting recievers and expect him to have as good of numbers. His Junior year is more of a sign of what is to come than his senior year.

I want to trade down too, but it assumes that a team like the Jets actually wants to trade up. I'm beginning to wonder if any team wants our pick.

There is no way Reggie McNeal is going to be drafted in the 1st day. The highest I've seen him rated on any reputable website is in the 4th round, and I think many people still question whether he will be a QB or WR so I don't see him going in the first four rounds, I would look at him maybe in the 5th if we plan to have him play WR or in the 6th if we plan for him to mainly be a backup QB.

Have given away too many picks in the past. Ragone 3rd round? Hollings cost us a second. Those are wasted picks and it shows now...no depth and too many needs. I would hope to shy away from project players at this point and in the current state of the team.

You've got to be kidding me. First off McNeal's never gonna be a good starter in the NFL because he has no heart. What kind of quarterback misses the last game of his senior year against his arch rival due to some minor injuries. And, a better passer than Vince? Vince finished the season as the number three rated QB in the country. Don't tell me about how many receivers McNeal lost, his numbers were awful. Lastly, though it wasn't said, it was implied that McNeal is a better runner, which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Vince has made All-American defenders look like *****s his entire career and he is the only player in college football history to pass for 3,000 and rush for 1,000 in the same season. And how can you claim that McNeal had less talent around him, according to every recruitment poll in the counrty A&M has gotten top 5 classes the last three years. I don't know if you're just an anti-Longhorn, but trust me, Vince Young is going to be great at any level because of his competitveness and his heart. As a student at UT, I have followed his career the whole way, and I have never seen anyone who could take over a game the way Vince does. He makes his teammates better, and his competitiveness is infectious. You can feel it every time he steps on the field. And from where I sit, the Texans could use nothing more than heart. McNeal will never be anything of note, and shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Vince.

McNeal has a faster 40 time than Vince (4.35 to 4.45 reported speeds) for whatever that's worth, but many people around the league and fans (myself included) don't put too much weight on 40 times. McNeal has a more conventional throwing motion and probably is a little more accurate with his throws, but Vince has a stronger arm. Vince is bigger and definitely a more powerful runner, I think McNeal could definitely be turned into a WR, he has the speed for it and pretty good size, and I think he could end up being very similar to Antwan Randle El if he wants to transition to the WR spot.

I never knew a minor injury took you off the field on a cart then you return on crutches. I don't know if you saw the hit that hurt him, but I've seen hits like that end careers. You accusing someone else of being anti longhorn but look at how you write to others. Now, my sister is a student at UT and I'm a die hard Aggie so I have watched both players thourghout their college careers. Each are great athletes and under a system for them they could thrive in the NFL. Also, A&m has been lacking great talent through out the team. Look at how many possible UT first day players there are, now look at A&M. Reggie had one senior at WR this whole year, the rest were gone, and he was left with freshman. Bill Parcells clocked Reggie running a sub 4.3 40, you know that? I love Vince and want the Texans to get him, so no anti-Ut stuff here.

Reggie could be a very sucsessful QB in the NFL but it be interesting to see him as a WR. I like the comparison to Randle El.

I want to apologize for loosing my head on my previous post, but I stick by my assessment of Reggie McNeal. He has no heart. He missed team meetings when he was supposed to be the leader, and as far as his injury... he was dancing around on the sidelines acting like a fool at the UT game. And the reason why UT has a number of first day picks is because of coaching. A&M has gotten great recruiting classes, but Fran is worthless and should be gone after this year. Of course as a Longhorn fan, I hope they sign him to a ten year deal. What made me mad was someone saying that the Texans would be better off if they got McNeal late round rather than Vince with the first pick, which is absolutely ridiculous. Vince is going to reinvent the QB position in the NFL just like he did in college, and it looks as if Houston is going to be looking back in a few years and thinking about what might have been.

HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!

I kinda lost it too. I think you got Reggie mixed up though. He wasn't the one dancing around, that was Courtney Lewis who was hurt earlier in the game. He was dressed just like Reggie and standing right next to him. Reggie has heart, just he needs to find more.
