Practice Squad
Preston Parsons will be back in camp today, giving them 5 QB's. Well. really 2 actual REAL Quarterbacks ( Carr and Parsons ). Ragone and Symons gotta go. The only reason Symons is even still around is the exemption he recieves from playing in NFLE. Looking forward to the Raiders this Sat!!

there's no way Parsons is better than Banks or Ragone. and i'd hate to go into the season as Parsons being our backup.

Interesting analysis from a person who has never seen him play. How many TD does ragone have in all of his preseason games?
I base my opinions on what I have seen. Every time Parsons plays, he scores. Every preseason game he has been in he has lit it up. I guess we'll see this Sat Eh?

more than parsons. there's a reason he was the #5 guy behind carr, banks, ragone, and symmons. the fact is Parsons has never played in an NFL reg ular season game where Carr, Banks, and Rogone have all played in an NFL game. the thought of Parsons backing up Carr at this time in his career is scary. i think 99 percent of the fans on this board would agree with this. i also think 100 percent of the texans coaches would also come to that conclusion.

Pretty safe statement since given the choice within the last month they cut Parsons. Dude was an undrafted rookie who played so well in preseason games that freakin' Arizona cut him--Arizona!!!

JakeBrake--what is your source for this announcement?

lets talk after Sat.

What is he going to do something stellar holding a clipboard on the sideline while Carr, Banks and Ragone play?

Hey, I'll pull for anybody the Texans decide to suit up in the uniform, but....

Calling a 5th stringer the only other "real" QB we've got is something of a stretch. :ok:

forgive me for asking logical questions but if Parsons is so good,

why was the last team he stuck with the Arizaona Cardinals?

why did he not play with anyone in 2004?

why did no one pick him up after the Texans dropped him?

why does he only have a job in the NFL because the Texan's 4th string Qb got hurt?

Was Parsons even in NFLeurope this past year?

Hey, all the guy can do is play the cards that he is dealt. If all you get is playing time in preseason but you score everytime youre in and dont throw any pics not sure how you can fault the guy.
As for Arizona, well they suck for a reason, *****ic roster decisions being one of them. Give the guy a shot, have any of you ever even seen him throw a pass?

I saw Parsons pass during practice on 7/30. Can't say I was overwhelmed. Didn't impress the coaching staff much either, as he was released shortly afterward.

Forgive our skepticism regarding your touting of Mr. Parsons. Your prognostication track record here hasn't been great. Tony Banks won't be re-signed. Dave Ragone will be placed on the practice squad. Parsons will become the #2 QB. That didn't happen. Banks was re-signed, Ragone can't be placed on the practice squad, and Parsons was cut as the #5 QB & brought back when the #4 QB was injured. Oh fer 3 will cause some people to question your objectivity in regards to Parsons.

Right now, I'm thinking Parsons doesn't avoid the Turk when the rosters are trimmed to 65. I could be wrong though. If I am & Preston makes the team, please send me the admission papers for Parson's fan club.

Well lets just wait and see! any bets on playing time this week?
#1, I dont think I ever said I was objective. Im not!
#2, realize that symons AND Ragone dont count as roster spots becuase they were in NFLE
#3 how did Symons look against the broncos?

How about an avatar bet? I'll sport a "I heart Preston" avatar all season if he makes the team.

If he doesn't, you promise to stop posting Parsons spam here.

Deal?

Parson's is better than Banks,Ragone and Symmons?
While I'm not a big fan of Bank's he is an acceptable
backup in a league where teams would love to have a
#2 QB of his skill.(Dallas and Chicago come to mind)
Ragone has talent,he just needs more experience. I
believe he will be our backup QB next year.I say that
because Bank's has trade value.(IE.Henson)
Symmons is a gunslinger and a project,he may never
pan out but the coaches see something that keeps him
around. He was dangerous in college,Big 12 teams hated
seeing him on the other side.
Parson's had "potential",(that word has gotten many
coaches fired),he's been a project and he's been out
of the NFL. Sometimes you are what you are.
The fact that he's even getting a look in camp speaks
more to the sad lack of cappable backup QB's in the
league than to his ability. Houston is just fishing for
some trade value in him.
Maybe they can get some pencils for him or a used
clipboard. :evilb:

You can look at it that way if you like, but realistically if NFLE didn't exist they would still be on the team and folks like Devin Pitts, Aaron Halterman, Adam Mathews and LaTarance Dunbar wouldn't be around right now. Also the NFLE exemption is only temporary, not year long.

Parsons takes the snap. looking, looking. he's got all day to throw the ball. throws to dunbar in the back of the endzone. Texans win the Superbowl!!!!!! :pigfly:

or how about this one.

Parsons takes the snap, hands it off to jason Anderson, Anderson rumbles for 99 yards. Texans win the Superbowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pigfly:

I am hoping that Parson is the second coming of Dan Marino, but for some reason I'm not feeling it.

Remember it is important that a player performs well during a preseason game but the coaches know how good someone really his by how they perform in practice. I am betting Parson had a few decent preseason games against 4th string defenses but has never done anything really impressive during practice or he wouldn't be cut constantly.

As for some REAL good news......

Mclain is reporting that Weigert's ankle is a 'normal ankle sprain' and is no longer being reported as a 'high ankle sprain.' This is good news for his recovery. Should be back by the start of the season if not sooner.

:yahoo: :texflag: great news

parsons is better than banks ???? Yeah thats why he must have way more NFL experience, passing yards, tds. I admit banks isnt great but he is better than an UNPROVEN NFL player.

You have GOT to be kidding...

Hey, who let Preston's dad log onto the message board as "Jakebrake?"

If you are right, I'll fly you to Vegas so you can place all my savings on the roulette wheel for one roll.

There seems to be a lot of Banks haters out there. But, I have to give him a big thumbs up for winning 3 of the games he played in while Carr was injured.

I got excited there for a minute - I thought Preston Pearson was coming out of retirement to join the Texans. He'd only be about 50 now.

I saw him last night on Inside the Texans Training Camp, he sure has a mean handoff. Handoff left, Handoff right; he could do it all.....Thats why they signed him, no other qb was avaliable to run drills.
