Why don't you like the Johnson pick? I'm not that high on him either but at that point all the top CBs were goneI wanted the guy who I think is the best OT in the draft. Trading a 3rd Rd pick to get who i consider to be a franchise LT is a small price to pay. There's a reason the Eagles are where they are and the Texans are where they are. One team is an aggressive risk taker and the other is passive just like they've been since their inception.
Gaine saw things differently, we will see who is right. But make no mistake one player will be better than the other. Time will tell who is right and if I'm right, I will hold Gaine to the same standard that I did the former GM.
The thing I really didn't like was the lack of aggressiveness, the Johnson pick was the head scratcher for me. Even more so than the Howard pick, which I understood but didn't care for.
Because Brian Gaine’s decisions have consequences to the teams, a team we all love, success whereas our opinions don’t. Why challenge the fan but not the GM?My question is why is it ok for you to differ in your rankings & valuations, but not Gaine. You would have done things differently. BG did things differently. Why is your way more right than his?
I know was to steelb, but:Why don't you like the Johnson pick? I'm not that high on him either but at that point all the top CBs were gone
If BG were on this board, I would.Because Brian Gaine’s decisions have consequences to the teams, a team we all love, success whereas our opinions don’t. Why challenge the fan but not the GM?

Saints all pro LT Terron Armstead went 3rd round 2013. Out of SWAC school Arkansas Pine-Bluff. The NFL overlooking him surely played a role in them evaluating Howard seriously...Some say Cam Robinson was the dude. I remember everyone talking up Greg Robinson who is basically a journeyman. I will admit, even as my homie used to scout for the 49ers, fans dont see a quarter of it. If Dillard was who people thought he was, why did he last until 22? When was the last time a franchise tackle wasn't taken until the 20s? So many in the league thought he was a solid prospect, nothing special. We will see in time.
Wonder why Love had such a freefall. NFL teams must’ve been scared off by something. Sure we’ll find out eventually.Cant find the ball in the air,
Reminds me of KJax.
If they were going to take a project OT in rd 1 then they should've traded up for Greedy in Rd.2.
I also liked Long/Love/I. Johnson more than L. Johnson.
Hope Gaine is right.
Seth Payne mentioned on the radio yesterday morning that some of Johnson’s issues with playing the ball had to do with the way he was coached at Kentucky. Hopefully we’ll see improvement with pro coaching. If he plays for us the way he played at the SB i think we’ll all be happy with the pickCant find the ball in the air,

I’m a ND fan so I’ve seen Love quite a bit. My biggest complaint is that he gets really handsy. I’d worry that he’d be a PI machineWonder why Love had such a freefall. NFL teams must’ve been scared off by something. Sure we’ll find out eventually.
Overlooked? He was drafted near top of the 3rd. Wouldn't been that high except for holding the fastest 40 time ever for an OLmen. All Pro while technically true doesn't quite give the picture. He was backup his rookie season. 2nd team All Pro & probowl last season were the 1st accolades of his career, so year 6.Saints all pro LT Terron Armstead went 3rd round 2013. "If we really like a player and we have conviction on this player, like we know we have a consensus that the scouting staff and the coaching staff like this player, we have a vision, we know where this guy is going to fit, let's go get him," O'Brien said recently in a season ticket holder conference call. "So if we feel like we're going to lose him, let's trade up and go get him."
He had Rick to complete trade-ups back then...OBrien on their draft 'philosophy' in 2015 only makes you scratch your head more. LOL this guy pounding his chest 3 years ago! You would think he would have gotten better at this by now.

Armstead has been a solid LT since his tenure. OL typically are late getting accolades but he’s been the best OL on one of the best OLs in football. We would all be talking about what a great pick this is if Howard puts up Armstead’s career production to this point.Overlooked? He was drafted near top of the 3rd despite weighing just 305lbs. While great for a 3rd, folks expect a faster return from a 1st.
Amazing how people can read things differently. I read someone simply explaining how they approach the draft and you read 'pounding his chest'. Seems like there's plenty of fair criticism of BOB that the aspersion isn't necessary imo.OBrien on their draft 'philosophy' in 2015 only makes you scratch your head more. He's an avg athlete.Wonder why Love had such a freefall. NFL teams must’ve been scared off by something. Sure we’ll find out eventually.
He did have a very good SR Bowl.Seth Payne mentioned on the radio yesterday morning that some of Johnson’s issues with playing the ball had to do with the way he was coached at Kentucky. Yea I think the Senior Bowl has increasingly become more important thru the years because it's the one time that the teams top personnel decision makers, the GM & the HC,He did have a very good SR Bowl.
This could explain some things.

"I don't know if that's been done a lot around here before," O'Brien said. "But I give Rick credit, he did it. He did it twice, and we were able to get some good players. Again, those guys need to go out and play now. But we feel good about where they are."
It makes sense. He was used differently at SR bowl than in most film I saw. At Kentucky they had him giving cushion a lot of the time like Crennel does. Sr Bowl he was pressing guys at line being physical and much more sticky in coverage. Also blew up McLauren on one play.He did have a very good SR Bowl.

I never said you cant take a talent, develop, and they become all pro. I said if teams think a guy is cant miss franchise tackle, they dont go in the 20s like Dillard. So when posters talk about Dillard as top rated LT, it doesn't add up. The NFL GMs see Dillard as a good player possibly, not a franchise guySaints all pro LT Terron Armstead went 3rd round 2013. Your sig banner is amazing. It's not his, it's mine
U like the DMC nickname but I still think they are the Beasty Boys because they are literally BEASTS of the BACKFIELD for the MotMw.at least u guys didnt draft a rb when u already had like seven of them like the bears
pretty funny tho buddy now with davis, montgummery, and cohen we litreally have run DMC

the real question is though with the texans having the worst ranked oline in the nfl how did they only draft two offenseive tackles
?

Gaine is from the Bill Parcells school. He is all about the NFL measurables. You select players that meet the standards and avoid the exceptions. The exceptions have a much lower chance of success. I am totally behind this approach to building a roster. I believe Gaine is on the right track, but only time will tell. The biggest thing that I beginning to get a clearer picture; BoGaine cares a ton about the roster being constructing with versatile players with specific athletic profiles seemingly over traditional need and BPA. At least, for me, it gives me an understanding of how decisions will be made.
sure thing how much for owen danielsWe'll trade you one of our TE's for one of the RB's?

I don't no nothing about him is he a good pass catcher? We got this guy Andy Shaheen who was sposed to be a "baby Gronk" but all he does is fall down and get hurt when he gets a pass his wayHow about Griffin? I heard he's good.
Honest answer, he sucks. What TE would u be sending 2 us? U know u coulda had Jordan Howard but he got sent to

wasted a 2nd round pic on this DUD
ew i just read up on the Texans TEs and they are all bad like literally not one of them is any good I thot that Bill O'brian was all about the TE in his offence???Honest answer, he sucks.
Shyster salesman answer, he's the next gronk.
I think the two they drafted last year will be good TEs. Last year's stats dont tell the whole story. The TEs were kept in to block much of the time and not utilized to their potential as weapons.ew i just read up on the Texans TEs and they are all bad like literally not one of them is any good I thot that Bill O'brian was all about the TE in his offence???
I give it a C+ too.U like the DMC nickname but I still think they are the Beasty Boys because they are literally BEASTS of the BACKFIELD for the MotMw.
As far as Texans draft goes I gave it a solid C+ because they got some OL for Watson but we dont no how good these OL are in pass pro. And the TE they got is garbage at blocking. I really want to see Watson do well this yr but he needs 2 be kept clean
