Texan tailgaters are the problem!

I believe so, yes. I think the statdium and it's surroundings are self-contained, and there's a special provision. It's why you can freely walk around outside Reliant with open containers of booze.

As for the $1 beer, good marketing idea, but Roger Goddell would never allow it. Too much liability for the Texans and the NFL. The first time a drunk fan hits another fan or something, lawsuits will ensue.

The answer would be to hand out vouchers at the gate, good for a special discounted rate on beer available only from venders selling to fans in their seats and only prior to kickoff. Not sure if this breaks some kinda law, but it would help.

For one, it's only going to be for a 15 minute time period, and you can only get it for $1 if you are in your seat. All the concession stands will be regular price. This is an idea to get the fans from lollygagging in the parking lots and partying their butts off, & into their seats, so the players don't feel so bad.


Second... instead of thinking up reasons why this can't work, or won't happen (not just you), we should really be thinking of ways to make this happen.

This would probably hurt the team for the first home games, but what if your not in the stadium by 11:40 then you won't be able to enter the stadium. Kind of an extreme way to punish the late people. Ofcourse you'll see the empty seats through the whole game for the very first games, but I promise you they won't be so empty later on the season lol.

And yes, they will get their refunds if they don't make it in time.

Third, you don't have to get pissy about it. I think it's a great idea. I am just being realistic. I am just as angry at the empty seats at kickoff as everyone else. I personally think the Texans need to downplay the tailgaiting a bit in their overall marketing. It's getting really out of hand.

Whoa.. I don't want you to think that Piss & Vinegar is aimed at you or any other fan.

That thing about lollygagging & players hurt feelings is more of a sarcastic statement. They want fans in their seats, they need to start winning games. They need to be bringing in Vandenbosch or Peppers or Brees, or Turner, or Larry Johnson, or someone who could help this team win now (speaking of last year & years prior) instead of Anthony Weaver & Jaques Reeves & Derrick Ward & Danny Clark.

Don't get me wrong, I love our team, but if they want fans in their seats, they need to do more winning, and less whining.

The thing about the beer, and helping the cause... "realistic" is such a small word. Was it realistic to think we could walk on the moon in the 60s? Was it realistic to think to think we could find a cure for polio? Was it realistic to think Obama would make a good president?

What's realistic got to do with anything?

Probems with empty seats, in no apparent order:

1. rich people who don't care
2. casual fans who don't care
3. mistiming how long it takes from the car to your seat
4. forgetting to allow for time to take your tailgate down
5. partying too hard and forgetting to care about kickoff
6. the team has never been to the playoffs

I'll take number 6 for the win. They're going to be blowin' this huge horn on the back of a Golf Cart to let us know when to come in. Don't think this is the real problem. Ol' Uncle Bob should go back into the think tank and come out with something better than this for a solution to the no playoffs problem.
