Article is pretty accurate, except that statement, I think we are better than Jacksonville.

The Texans will make a serious playoff push this year. Especially if they get improved play along the o-line. We have to get a 'W' against Indy this year.

They obviously didn't do quite enough research on their article, like just check out our games with the Jags last year. We not only swept the series,
we won both games really rather easily. Had they discovered that, they
would have had to give us atleast an equal ranking with the Jags.
 
It said that we didn't use a single draft choice on an O-Lineman. Hello, caller ya there, meet Drew Hodgdon.

Besides that and the part about J. Wells being a "legitamite playmaker", the atricle is very accurate IMO.

Real quick, before I get chastised about J. Wells, I believe he is going make lots of plays for us, but.....he will not be a "legitimate playmaker". He is one my favs though.

Regarding the offensive line

A lot of people were surprised the Texans didn’t use one draft choice on an offensive lineman. Their need at this position, a unit that has struggled ever since the team's inception three years ago, should have dictated at least one selection, but the team did not address this issue at all in the draft.

I believe we drafted Drew Hodgdon, a center, in the 5th round making him the 151st pick overall. Doesn't that classify as addressing the issue to some degree?

It's not a matter if we can beat them or they can beat us. It's what they see as far as a final record @ seasons end.

Everything they said was everything that we already know. The typical blah blah blah this is what happened last year and then more blah blah blah on what potential we've got.

Head 2 head we were better than them last year and we (Texans fans) all think that we will repeat that same success this year. Whoever wrote that atricle probably didn't take into effect that we swept the titans and jags last season. They just took our record and the fact that we are a team on the ascend, just like the jags are, and wrote a piece on us.

I believe that we've lost twice to them in three years.

2002 - Split, we beat them at their house, they returned the favor
2003 - Split, we beat them at home, they beat us at their house
2004 - Sweep in our favor.

We're 4-2 against the Jags. To be honest we came close to pulling a second win out against them in 2002 but couldn't come through so we could very easily have been 5-1 against them. As long as we're being honest though we could have been swept by them in 2003. Carr's last second TD was awesome but if they hadn't turned the ball over or he hadn't made it then we'd be 3-3 against the Jags.

We have played well against Jacksonville but I don't personally feel that the Texans "own" anyone at this time.
 
The argument should always be "who is better in a head to head match-up, not just in their records". What else do we have to prove to be put in a class above tose Darn Jags?!?!?!?

Head to head match-ups really only matter unless you're good enough to make the playoffs or make a playoff push. Then the head to head becomes VERY important.

We could sweep the jags, titans, and the colts and lose the rest of our games and finish the season 6-10. Would you be happy???
 
The Jags and Texans played one another twice, had twelve common opponents and played two pairs of different teams.

Head-to-head
Texans 2-0
Jags 0-2

Two different opponents
Jags (Pitt and Buffalo) 1-1
Texans (Jets and Cleve.) 0-2

Common opponents
Jags 8-4
Texans 5-7

Beating someone twice doesn't make you better if your overall record is worse. We need at least as good of a record as the Jags to claim to be better.

They ever hear the name Aaron Glenn??? JW, cause he wasnt bad yet he was still a pretty solid Corner at that. better than D-rob IMHO because he did know how to read offenses and routes better, but that comes in playing time.
 
There is a reason we went out and got a new CB opposite Glenn. He was great in 2002, but he was injured all of 2003 and inconsistent in 2004.

no i understand that but they write in the article like we had a horrible CB oppisite D-rob, which we didnt. Glenn was still a very good corner IMO he got 1 INT less than D-rob and still showed he could play with recievers of this age. and if you wanna say he was inconsistent go ahead but it wasnt because of injuries it was the new rule that the NFL set on CB's and recievers.

Re-read what I said. I never blamed last year's performance on injuries. 2003 was his injury season.

Um, Polk didn't play a down at OLB last season. Doubt he will in '05, either. Unless Charlie Anderson just knocks the socks of the coaching staff in camp, the ROLB job is Peek's. Unless Boulware pops back up on the radar.

Most of these prognosticators don't realize the Texans swept the Jags last season. They look at the standings, see a 9-7 vs 7-9 record, & proclaim the Jags a class above the Texans. In some ways, they were. Jax won 7 of 10 games decided by 7 points or less. The Texans were 1-3. Win the close ones & beat the Clevelands, and the Texans will be considered the equal (or better) of the Jags.

Thanks for reading guys. I think the Texans will be good and will challenge for a playoff spot. OL for you guys is the key and on defense it depends on how Wong does on the inside (I think he could lead the team in tackles this season) and how Greenwood does replacing Sharper.
