Symphony Friday..who went?

hobie

All Pro
As I was driving by there Friday afternoon from work, I saw the marquee lit up. I had wanted to go this year but forgot all about it...So the question I have is, those of you who went or have gone in the past, how is it? Is it like a regular symphony with a little football themed music, or is it different.

I guess I have to wait another 51 weeks to find out first hand ....

I would highly reccommend it. Pep Band, cheerleaders, auctions, etc. Then an hour of NFL Films/Network music and NFL clips.

My ONLY complaint is that quite a few clips were repeated. But it was a great time!! It was odd seeing certain people dressed up in suits (and I was told I looked just as odd in a suit :-))

I'd like to check this out.

Also a word to the wise, the Houston Symphony is playing Mahler's 2nd next season on May 1-4. It will be a transcendent experience.

Yeah, as I saw the pep bands gear out front that's when I remembered that it was that evening. I guess next year for sure !

Well maybe you were told that because you are in your birthday suit at the time?

CRAP!!! It already took place??? I was wanting to attend the event as well... oh well, maybe next year.

Symphony played great. No comment on the new songs. Yeah, Yankee I still can't believe that was you in a suit. I fully expected to see the horns and face paint.

My only 2 complaints were:
1. The clips being repeated. Although they could've played that Earl Campbell run over and over and I'd have been happy.

2. The ***** sitting behind me and my family. He was narrating. "There's John Elway. Joe Montana. Warren Moon. Earl Campbell." DUH!!! OK, for anyone that watches any football at all, we don't need you to tell us who they are. My wife doesn't know any of them, and she didn't care for it either. In her words - "I really didn't need to know EVERYBODY'S name. And he was drowning out the symphony! What a jerk!" She finally turned around and politely asked him to stop. To his credit (or maybe it was HIS wife), he stopped from there on out.

One funny note. After the concert, my youngest son was sleeping in his seat. Somebody made the comment on the way out that he was tired from playing the "Tangerine" outside with the pep band. (it's a tambourine for those who don't get the joke).

Da General...thanks for coming by our area yesterday and playing Happy Birthday for the guys!! Look forwards to seeing you in a few weeks !!
