People are saying on nfldraftcountdown.com that Mario Williams is up to 300 pounds and is running below a 4.7 40. After the combine this guy might shoot up the charts to a top 3 pick. We might not trade down to get him unless it's with the titans or saints trying to get their QB Leinart.
 
It would fill a bigger need at DE; then we can get a OL in 2nd. Even better, we trade down and get him and some extra picks.

Who are these "people"?? Mario was already like 290 so getting up to 300 sint shocking,but we will have to see at the combine if he runs anywhere in the 4.6 range. That would be huge... but I expect him to run around 4.75.
 
I know everyone is all hyped up on Mario, but have you guys looked at Tamba Hali at all? The guy has a great motor, and quickness to speed rush in the 4-3 end.
 
Not sure you understand what a 4.7 is. That is speed rushing at 290. NFL strength guys will not let Mario play that heavy, but he will likely play at about 285-290. He has long long arms and will be our anchor for years if we get him. Bottomline if he runs like a champ I take him and say ohh well. He will not be a top 3 pick though unless the Titans dont want VY. Jets might take him at 4 GB definately will take him at 5. Bush and Leinhart unless they really screw up are locks for the first two picks. VY just needs to solidify himself in the Titans organization. Hopefully someone makes a play for Volek and leaves them short a QB which would guarantee VY.
 
The only way I would take Williams with the first is if he runs in the 4.6s, does like 40 reps on the benchpress and does great on the agility drills.
 
Mario sounds great to me- once we establish a team that controls the line of scrimmage on BOTH sides of the ball, then we can see how many more playmakers we need. sorry reggie, VY.
 
TSN.com war room has their 2nd round mock up....and the Texans take a DT! Right, like they need another DT on the roster! TSN has been smoking dope for awhile!
 
Only scenario is to trade down to no lower than 6th. I would prefer trading with Green Bay for their 5th Pick and Donald Driver. Assuming that Bush, Young, Leinhart go in the top 3, that would mean that either Ferguson or Williams or Hawk would be available with the 5th pick so Houston could grab 1 of them, and have a top notch receiver to join AJ, DC and DD that would mean they would have filled 2 needs for approximetly the same price as it would cost to take someone with the 1st pick. People have to think logically when it comes to this stuff
